You need to replace the ptc overload relay replaced on the compressor as this component is getting weak and is cutting out,it uses temperature vs. heat to protect the compressor from a no start or when the compressor cant operate on the run windings and overheats, then this ptc overload relay cuts out the compressor to protect it,it will keep trying to start the compressor till the ptc burns out,it just unplugs off the compressor and a new replacement plugs back in

Kenmore coldspot refrigerator 71192100 not cooling or freezing. Fan is running.

This is a common problem with refrigerators. The first thing that you want to check is the relay and overload on your compressor. I know this blog is about an LG refrigerator but it will be the exact same way on your Kenmore.

Lg Refrigerator compressor comes on for about 5 seconds

Does not cool either side fan runs and compressor seems to run

2 possible issues. If compressor running, but not cooling - No freon in the system, or compressor valves are bad, not compressing freon. Ideal would be to check pressures on the system while its running. Could be some kind of restriction. most common problem i would guess low freon level. Here are 2 of my videos i have on my channel. first is leak found at evaporator coils. i used leak dye to find it, second video is replacing compressor, but had compressor completely down. installed 3-n-1 hard start kit, but compressor did not come on, so replaced compressor with filter drier. Hope this will give you an idea what to do next.

Refrigerator wont cool

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.

First, answer these questions: Is the refrigerator completely dead? If so, see “It's stopped completely.” Is the thermostat knob turned to the proper setting? If not, reset it.

Next, see if the compressor motor is running The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help. If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:
  • The compressor
  • The Thermostat
  • The overload, relay, or capacitor
  • The defrost timer
  • The condenser fan motor

Compressor only stays on for 30 seconds which is not long enough to completely cool refrigerator all fans work and coils are dust free

if unit is coming on for a few seconds and then u hear a click, you may have a bad compressor relay. pull it off the compressor and shake. most times u will hear a rattle of junk. if so its bad.

Freezer and refrigerator not cooling.

Are you sure that the compressor actually runs, if it does start up and run, I would suspect a blockage in the refrigerant tubing around the filter drier where it is reduced to capillary tubing. If the compressor is just trying to come on, then switching of, I would try changing the starter relay first.
