I keep getting an error code that flashes F then 2. I have been pausing the cycle and then pushing the start button and the load will finish with 22 minutes left in the cycle. Last night the machine would not drain and every time I would try to start it the code would come backe up. I tried th drain and spin cylce, but the machine only filled with more water and the error code came up again. Any suggestions? I have a Kenmore Elite HE3 front load washer model # .44836300. Thanks
Based upon your description, the drain pump has either failed or the pump filter has become clogged.
To check the pump, remove the bottom access panel. There you will find access to the pump clean-out.(Large,white screw cap) BE READY TO CATCH LOTS OF WATER. CAREFULLY AND S_L_O_W_L_Y unscrew the pump clean-out, catching and discarding the water. When the water flow finally stops, completely remove the clean-out filter. Inspect the clean-out filter, the drain hose from the tub as well as inside the pump impeller for any additional debris.
If you need further assistance, let me know

This literally took about 5 minutes to complete from start to finish and completely fixed the washer. I had 3 socks and a wire blocking my filter. There was very little water spillage but we had the shop vac and towels handy just in case. This is very easy to do!!
Awesome advice!!! Done in ten minutes and back in the laundry business. I thought it may be the end of my machine but thanks to you she still has some time left and work to do!
Really appreciate the easy to follow advice. I was amazed at the amount of gunk blocking the drain. Good as new now. Just one thing to add - mine needed a torx screw driver to remove the lower front panel. Thanks for you post.
No matter who you are, if you read this, and you have this washer, check your clean out anyway. We found two sockss and more! No wonder it was slow and stunk. You can do this in less than 15 minutes.
this was awesome! worked like a charm... got 1.50 in change, gunk, hair elastics and a few legos! thank you, thank you !
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Amazingly easy thing to do. Found kids sock, quarter, toothpick, etc.

If when you are "S_L_O_W_L_Y" unscrewing the pump clean out you will have a shop vac turned on and at the bottom of the cap you are unscrewing, it will **** up all the water draining out with little to no mess. I just tried the technique above after having the same problem and trying the fix above, (which worked by the way...2 infant socks, .15, and a bra underwire later all the slug was removed and we were back on track). I didn't have any water to clean up at all and my shop vac was half full of water! By the way, I used the shop vac to **** out the drain hose that leads up to the outside drain hose since I couldn't reach up in the inside of the washer far enough to remove it. I sucked a bunch of stuff out of it too that had made it's way up there and cleared it; otherwise, I would've still been stopped up.
this is awsome did what you said with the shop vac< and lordy lordy i found a sock and nails and pennies, wow it was so clogged, im so happy i dont hve to call sears to repair it, thanks so helpful
thank you, thank you, used the shop vac, great! found a sock in the filter and nails< wow so clogged flushed everyyhing out, now working great

Power of internet, was ready to look for a new washer until I came across this fix, followed suggestion and found 2 facial towels wrapped within pump filter, removed and put everything back together and washer seems to be working like a gem, thank you for the great advice.
Can I just say thank you? I followed your suggestion and it was a relatively easy fix that has been driving me nuts! Maybe now I'll finally catch up on laundry!
Same F02 and SUD codes. Read the posts. Tried it...worked like a charm. Thank you!!
One big tremendous THANK YOU for this site, and for posting the suggestions to resolve the F2 error on my Kenmore Elite He3t washer.
I followed the suggestion to remove the back panel, detach the rubber drain tube running from the tub to the drain pump and check for 'debris' . I found two of the purex 3-in-1 laundry sheets I saw at the store and decided to try out. Removed them (with no water spilled I might add) and problem solved!
I've done 4 loads of laundry with no errors. Thank you for the extremely helpful troubleshooting tip and remember, stay AWAY from the all-in-one laundry sheets.
Hi (easy steps): 1)use a hose to drain the watter from the washer to a bucket. 2)use a shop vacuum to drain the remaining watter; plug it to the draining hose. 3)take three -7mm- screws form the front lower part of the washer. 4) pull down the cover with your hands -no tools needed for that-. 5)turn the drain plug -this is also the filter- and pull it off. 6)us your shop vacuum to clean the inside and every little hole there. also put it in the draining hose again -this will help to clean the pump and the hose. -YOU ARE DONE. put it together and behold problem solved- =)
Same problem.. F2 error, nothing works, tub locked and full of water. Removed bottom panel, Had shop vac and old towels ready and unscrewed 4" drain plug. Filled the shop vac and towels with smelly water and removed sock from pump along with some coins and beads. I also used the shop vac **** out the pump to be sure I got everything. Washer is now working properly again thanks to this website.
Glad I checked this site too!!! Pulled the pump filter cap, and low and behold.... Coins, pencils, more coins, and other pant pocket items... Saved Me $$$... Thanks....
Just wanted to say thanks!!! Like everyone else I found a small nylon sock in the front of drain hose just outside the pump. This was an easy solution and alot cheaper than a new washer!! I love this site and I'll be back. Thanks Again
I am sooo thankful I went on this site! I has having the F02 error and I unscrewed the bottom panel to get to the drain pump there were 7 coins in there along with a necklace! took everything out and the washer is working fine now.........now all I have to do is clean up all this water lol
Ditto Here.... Followed the suggestions and sucked out a baby sock! Works great!!! Thank you very much.
I had the same F02 error code and followed the above directions and, yup, I found two of my teenage daughters socks stuck in the filter along with a couple of coins and a lot of muck. So far so good, no more error code. Thank you so much reg501, you're the bomb my friend. You saved me a lot of money that I really can't afford to spend right now. God Bless!

Had this problem on our Kenmore machine.
This is what done.
1. Unplug the washer
2. Take of the toe panel in the front by removing the three screws.
3. Get a bunch of towels (I mean a bunch!!!)
4. The pump is in the center, and it has a plastic grip handle that one can unscrew to remove the filter. As you unscrew it, LOTS of water will come out. Be ready with the towels. A cookie sheet helps to collect the water too.
5. Clean the filter assembly.
6. If one wishes to check the inlet of the pump, remove the back panel, about 12 screws. (Note, the following works for replace the pump as well)
7. Remove the large bellow from the bottom of the tub that goets to inlet of the pump by removing the clamp
9. Lift up on the plastic cover that covers the wires that power the pump. There may be a small plastic catch that is lifted up as to allow the connector to become free.
8. Remove the Torx screw that holds that is the center just under the filter screen.
9. Pull the pump forward.
10. Unclamp the pump outlet hose.
11. Remove pump
12. Unclamp the large bellow on the pumps inlet and inspect for debris.
13. Clean pump and fitler w/o getting water on the pump.
14. Install in reverse order. Remember, it is much easire to put the inlet bellow and outlet hose on the pump before you put into the washer

Depending on how fritzed your drain pump is this may or may not work. I've been using HE detergent because it is supposed to cause fewer suds. However, apparently is causing more suds than needed. I need to use only a couple tablespoons? If your clothes are not dirty enough for the soap to grab onto then extra suds are the result. The repair guy said we had an excessive amount of suds in the system and this affects the sensor and causes the drain pump to run and run and run until it shuts off from overheating. This is why we get the F2 and/or suds error code. He said once a month run the machine on the hottest water cycle with a cup of bleach (no clothes). This will clear out any suds build-up and is cheaper than Afresh which works, too, (but smells cleaner than bleach). After sitting for a day our pump started working again (yay!) It also stopped making the horrible loud sound. So glad I do not have to replace the pump!! yet...(knock on wood!).

Thank You! We just finished cleaning out the filter. It was very clogged up. Everything went just as you explained. Even the amount of water!! I haven't had a chance to run a load yet, but I am sure that it will work great. Thanks again for your help.
My machine won't spin or drain and we will be checking the pump filter to see if it is clogged.
That was it! It's drains now. I don't understand why Kenmore will not explain this simple fix over the phone? I told them the error code, but all they said was "Do you want an extended warranty?" and it will be $68 for a service call. We had them scheduled to arrive, but now we are going to cancel the call. Thanks for your help.
I am having the same F2 problem, but where is the filter?
We located the drain and drained the water-you were right, the water went everywhere-we just now finished mopping up. We did not find any debris in the filter-I guess that means the pump is bad ??? I hate to try again and have to mop again!!!
Thanks for your help
Sara
Having the SAME EXACT PROBLEM... I get a flashing around 11 minutes left of F then 02 of a flash... I am thinking maybe the filter will have to get my boyfriend to look at it but will following the direction that everyone gave... thanks for the comments going to try it.
I had the F-2 error also... I glad I checked this site, cause my problem appears solved.. Pulled the lower panel, unscrewed the cap, and low and behold..... Coins, pencils, more coins, and other items that were left in pants pockets... Saved me $$$ for a service call, or even a new unit...!!
In the middle of the cylce I get FO2 error, on Kenmore Elite HE3, but I don't know where the filter is to clean it out
spin to the 10 minutes and then goes back to 12 minute and starts the process again
After 8 minutes, FH error code comes on.Water is filling the tub.
Checked Drain Pump.
washer sensing light comes on but won't do anything. repairman said it needs two boards but when I was taking washer out and water from drain wet the floor, I found the power outlet wasn't getting power since my wetvac wouldn't run from that same outlet. I am doubting the repairman's diagnosis at this point. Tried Rockwell's door latch test but can't get further than pushing prewash button 4 times; I get a 002 code displayed. What next?
Does not drain,washer just stops
