Our fridge is 6 months old. The LCD display panel on the front is now showing "Er dH". There is no mention of any messages in the manual. Where do I find what this means.
The manual given to me says it covers models 795.7765* and 7757*. My model # should be one of those.
Any ideas?
The Er DH error code indicates the temperature sensor on the evaporator coil did not reach 50 degrees within one hour.
This would indicate the control board did put the refrigerator through a defrost cycle.
This problem could be caused by a defective relay on the control board, a defective defrost heater, a broken wire to the heater, or a stopped up drain on the defrost pan causing ice to form on the evaporator coil.
Before replacing the control board, someone should remove the food from the freezer, remove the freezer drawer, and remove the evaporator cover to expose the evaporator coil, heater, and defrost sensor.
The voltage to the defrost heater should be 120 volts ac.
The defrost heater is part of the evaporator coil and is not replaceable as a separate part.
You can test the operation of the defrost system by pressing "Ultra Ice" and "colder freezer temp" for 3 seconds.
The first time you press and hold the buttons the board will test the compressor, fan, and open the damper.
All displays should be on.
The second time you press and hold the buttons the board will test the compressor, fan, and close the damper.
The third time you press and hold the buttons, the board will turn the compressor and fan off and turn the defrost heater on for around 25 minutes. This would let you know if the defrost system is working.

My Kenmore Elite 795.77572 had an error message ER FF on the control panel. I also heard a very noisy fan from the freezer section. I disassembled the freezer back cover which contains the freezer fan and shields the cooling coils. I couldn't find any problem with the fan, however, there was a lot of ice buildup behind the back cover. After removing all the food, I defrosted the freezer and refrigerator and then reassembled the freezer section. The unit is now quite and running as normal. I am assuming ice buildup was interfering with the fan operation and making the noise.
There should be some reference to what the error codes mean.
My fridge is saying ER IF or maybe it's one F.
The fridg seems to be off.
Model 7957554 bottom freezer fridge. Display says "Er" and "dH" Cannot find anything in manual that addresses this.
My Kenmore Elite, Model No. 795.77563600, is displaying the same error code ER FF. Several weeks ago, the fan was making a terrible noise; the repairman I called removed the interior housing to the evaporater unit and scraped out a lot of ice buildup. I have had the unit for 2 1/2 years with no problem until this recent ice buildup. Although the fan is not so noisy as before, there is a change in sound along with this first-time display of the ER FF code. What is a permanent solution? Don't want to be dismantling parts and scraping ice every few weeks!!
Same error on display panel Er dh - had this frig 2 1/2 years with no real problems. Can't figure out how to troubleshoot this dispay message
I have the same error message. It in NOT mentioned in the manual. I have reset the breaker twice, which fixes the panel for a little while, but the message comes back. The frig is not cooling, food is going bad. Please help
I have a problem with the an error message that says Er If. I don't know what it means. My icemaker doesn't work at all but the refrigerator is still working. I can't get water to come out. It did for a while until the power went off in the house. It came back one like normal but then went back to the error message. How do you get rid of the message and return it back to normal? I just had the icemaker completely reinstalled a couple of months ago and now this problem.
I have a similar problem but my error message displays Er If. It went away when the power went out and came back on. Then after a few minutes it went back to this message. I have called for a repairman. We'll see what he says when they actually get here. I have an eight hour window to wait at home for the repairman. 'So much for doing anything that day.
My brand new Kenmore Elite (the second one in 2 months). The first one needed a new icemaker but I waited for over a month for the part and then finally told them to come and get their fridge as I had just purchased it.
They brought me a new one and the same day I got the ER dH message. There is a piece of paper taped to the bottom of the fridge that has a list of error messages and what they mean. However it has been translated into English by individuals that do not really know English. So it's a little meaningless.
However, when the repair guy came and you won't believe this!...he came the same day I called...he wanted that piece of paper. In the end he had to order me a part...go figure. He said it was the sensor for the defrost to kick in at a certain temperature was the problem.
My fridge is still empty as I only had it delivered the day before and as of yet did not put the food back in. (I have a spare fridge). I asked him if this was a problem for the operation of the fridge and he says well, I wouldn't overload it with food as you will see the temperature in the fridge drop! What!
I wonder how long I will be able to live like this...I think I will be calling Sears to come get this piece of junk too. $2,500.00 plus tax in Canada. My spare fridge...the one I was replacing....11 years old...a KitchenAid still works great. He told me this particular fridge is manufactured for Sears by LG. No experience with LG products so I can't comment but if this fridge is an indication then I'm not impressed.
Hope you all get your problems resolved quickly!
Update: After waiting a week; the repairman came with a new part and installed it. It was a sensor for the automatice defrost to kick in. Needless to say; the temperature in my fridge was getting warm. He had to take the whole freezer apart to get at the part; about 1 hour of work. Well, today, 24 hours later the error code is back. ER dH just like before. I called Customer Service to complain and some manager or other is supposed to call me tomorrow. I have lost all confidence in this fridge!
