In my Philips DVD players, recently I have tried to play few film DVDs, and it showed region error/or wrong region. Could you please help me out with this and tell me what should I do?? I talked to the customer care of DVD library, there they said that I needed to upgrade my DVD player. This DVD player was bought around 6 to 7 years ago. Please help and suggest.

You can get yourself a region free DVD player on your PC and then you are free to play region-locked DVD. You can try Leawo Blu-ray Player which can play Blu-ray and DVDs from all regions.

The DVD you're using is probably from elsewhere than the region you live in. It is almost certainly possible to temporarily change the region by using a trick which will not damage your machine in any way. Google "Philips DVP642 region hack" and there will be an answer.

Want to unlock Philips DVD player (DVP320)

Did you follow these instructions exactly? If you pressed 9990, as you mentioned, it will not work. You need to press 99990. Do you see region "0" on the display?

start the player without any DVD in it.
open the lid.
while the lid is open press 9,9,9,9,0
you should see region 0 displayed.
close the lid.

Your DVD player is now region free.

note:
replace 0 with 1 to 6 at to set the wanted region number if needed.

Philips 7" DVD portable player

The PET702 will be a region 5 machine, whereas the UK DVDs are region 2.

DVD players from a particular region are designed to play only DVDs from the same region, due to copyright and distribution rights in each country or region.

However the PET702 can have the region protection removed by making it multi-region:

Switch on the PET702 and Open the tray.

Press SETUP button on the remote control, which will bring up the menu.

Highlight "PREFERENCES" and press OK.
coolsmiley.gif
Press [2], [5], [2], [3], [1], [5], [LEFT], [DOWN]

The screen will show: "Region Code: 2"
Press [1-6] to manually set the region OR [0] for multi-region.
coolsmiley.gif
Press [SETUP] to exit winksmiley.gif

You will now be able to play DVDs from anywhere in the world.

This is particularly useful, because region 1 DVDs from the US often come out when the movies are still in the cinemas over here. Region 1 DVDs can be bought perfectly legally by mail order or from the internet.
