My wii remotes just stopped working, fresh batteries, unhooked everything.All lights flash.

Make sure you have fresh batteries in it. the little red button under the battery cover is the sync button. Push it and you should see the 4 blue lights flash on the remote. Push the sync button on the Wii (red button under the front flap) and wait a few seconds. The remote light should stop flashing and one of the lights should light, indicating which remote it is (1-4) Repeat as necessary or change the order of button pushing if it doesn't work the second time.

if it wont sync after using the red buttons then its just bad batteries from the sound of it or the remote has gone bad.

Try fresh batteries or let the rechargeables charge (assuming they arent bad)

Our grandson emailed the solution.
Turn on the Wii and open the game menu.
Click on the Home button.
Click on the Wii remote settings at the bottom of the screen.
Press "Reconnect" and then hold 1 and 2 on both remotes.

We will have to follow these steps every time we want to use the Wii.
It seems like a 'bother', but it works. At least so far.

Here's instructions for both:

A fresh set of alkaline batteries should last, depending on amount and type of use, up to 35 hours. This can vary greatly based on certain factors, such as Wii Remote Speaker Volume, Rumble, battery quality and age, and type of game being played.

Important Note: If you are using rechargeable batteries, the only type of battery recommended are Nickel Metal Hydride batteries. When it comes to using rechargeable batteries, you must follow manufacturer guidelines for safety and proper usage. Failure to do so could cause damage to the Wii Remote and void the warranty.

There are two ways to check the Wii Remote's battery levels:

• Remove the battery cover and press the Red "Sync" button. The number of lights flashing indicates the Wii Remote's battery strength. Four flashing lights indicates full strength, with one light flashing indicating the lowest level.

• Use the HOME Menu to check battery level of each Wii Remote:
  
  
  1. Press the HOME Button on a Wii Remote that is synchronized with the Wii console.
     
     
  2. Select the Wii Remote Settings option from the Home Menu.
     
     
  3. The battery level of all synced Wii Remotes is displayed along the bottom. Four bars indicates a full charge, with one being the lowest charge.
     
     

Note: Make sure you have placed batteries in the Wii Remote.

1. Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.
2. Remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote you wish to sync up, and press the SYNC button just below the batteries. The Player LED will blink.
3. Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console and press the SYNC button on the inside of the compartment.
4. When the Player LED blinking stops, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 to 4).
   
   

This procedure must be followed for each additional Wii Remote added to your system.

all you have to do is open the place where you put an sd card on your wii then open the battery cover on the wii remote and press the SYNC buttons at the same time and it WILL TURN ON trust me it works

I know this sounds silly, but be sure that you have fresh batteries in each Wiimote and that you have them in the right way.

Whenever you start up your Wii, the first Wiimote that you press a button on becomes controller number 1 and then subsequent Wiimotes are added in the order a button is pushed on them. SO, if you are thinking that you have remote 1 because that was the one that was remote 1 last night, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is so. Be sure that whenever you activate a Wiimote, the lights flash - 4 lights flashing mean strong battery, 1 light flashing means replace; when flashing stops, the number LED that is lit from the left denotes which remote you have. Make sure that is the same Wiimote that you select a game with, and make sure that is the one you press A&B together with to start the game.

If it doesn't work, shut everything down and start up using the other Wiimote. If that DOES work, then it could mean that your other Wiimote is not syncronized with the console. See the directions in your Wii manual on syncronizing additional Wiimotes (they're called Wii Remote by Nintendo) to your console.

Ensure batteries are fresh. Ensure that Wii Fit (or other Balance Board game) is started up completely before pressing the power button.

Make sure the batteries are fresh, and then open the battery compartment. There is a little red button. On the front of the Wii (turn it on), open the door where the SD memory card goes in. There is another red button. Press them both at the same time. The blue lights will flash on the remote, and it should then work.
Repeat for each controller.

This happened to my son. I did some reading and found out you have to resynchronize the remote. This is from the manual
1) Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.
2)Remove th battery cover on the back of the remote and press the SYNC. button inside the cover. The Player LEDs will blink.
3)Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console and press the SYNC button on the inside of the compartment
4)When the Player LED blinking stops,connection is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number.
This procedure must be followed for each additional Wii remote added to your system.
