Hi Virus or Trojans can run some process that keeps running in background. This not only harms the computer, but also prevents the pen drive from formatting as it shows that the drive is in use. Remove and re-insert the pen drive, don't double click on drive and cancel autorun operations if it starts automatically. Run a virus scan on pen drive, this will help fix the issue. Now format the pen drive.

your pen drive has bad sectors.Try repairing it by typing chkdsk x: /f /r (where x is the pen drive) at the command prompt

Do not use any more and get some data recovery freeware.

Try formatting the drive. Assuming Windows XP, just open your "my computer" icon, right-click on the device and choose format. Be aware, formatting will remove any data you may have had on there previously.

You need to restore your system using System Restore tool. Follow The following Steps to Restore ur system:

For restoring your system do the following:
1. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories ->System Tools
and select System Restore
2. Go to next window, Choose the restore point that is available, remembering ur system was exactly what you wanted for (choose the point remembering, at particular point ur system was good and wasnt giving u any error while u install any software).
3. Select that restore point by reading the description (The software you've had installed).
4. Click next to restore.

Note: Your system will restart after choosing the restore point and clicking next. It takes some time to restore.

i had purchased a pen drive of Moser Baer AZ-601USB device. previously it was working good, but since last 3 days i could not open my pen drive..it asks for formattin. i have formatted it , but after that it says your pen drive is write protected. so i could not open and use my pen drive....

so plz solve my problem to open my pen drive.

How are you formatting it? NTFS or FA32?

I suggest you reformat as FAT32
