NOTE: you may have to remove the front panel to gain access to the tension ring. If that is the case, remove the front panel by removing the screws positioned at each corner (four screws total). On some models you may have to first remove a lower-front panel to gain access to the bottom two screws of the main front panel.

    hello,

Remove the existing door boot seal being careful to feed out the two tube connections.

Remove the existing door boot seal being careful to feed out the two tube connections.

attach the new seal and line it up with the tube connections

attach the new seal and line it up with the tube connections

        Slowly
feed in the replacement seal. You will feel the 'lip' on the plastic
casing around the metal washer tub that the seal needs to fit onto. You
know you have it right when the tub can spin freely without rubbing or
        contacting the the seal.

THIS IS THE FRUSTRATING PART. TAKE YOUR TIME AND MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE SEAL PLACED ON THE FRAME COMPLETELY.

Position the replacement door boot seal, careful line up the tube connections, but DO NOT CONNECT the tubes yet.

The door boot seal should have a raised area indicating where you need to line up the tension ring.

Fit the inner tension ring over the door boot seal and reconnect the tubes through the seal.
        IMPORTANT:
make sure the clamp screw is placed on matching its original position.
You need the room on the right hand side to tighten the screw with the
        small screwdriver.

THE NEXT MOST FRUSTRATING PART IS TIGHTENING THE CLAMP SCREW.
Take your time and tighten the clamp while you curse the six sigma black belts at GE who failed to design this part correctly.

        Replace the outer tension ring

        Replace the outer tension ring

Replace the front panel of the washer and tighten all four screws.
Feed the door boot seal through and position it over the outer lip of the front panel.
Replace the outer tension ring and work backwards replacing the top of the washer and the front control panel.
    hope this help?

    Thanks.

Whirlpool Duet washer will not start . Hear a clicking noise then receive DL F fault

The clicking sound is coming from the door lock/switch assembly trying to lock the door but it cannot. After six trials, the error code "FdL" shows up on the display. Press PAUSE/CANCEL button twice to clear it.

The only way to fix the problem is by replacing the door lock/switch assembly with part numer 8181700 and costs about $40-$55. Some vendors listed it as part number 1094190 or PS972231. Below is the replacement procedure.

Door Lock/Switch Replacement Procedure
  1. Unplug the machine and open the door.
  2. Stretch the retainer spring of the seal boot retaining hoop then remove it. The seal boot is the gray rubber around the door opening. The retaining spring is located at the bottom of the door opening. The door lock/switch assembly is located on the right side of the door opening.
  3. Ease the part of the seal boot off the lip of the door opening near the door lock/switch assembly. Remove enough of the seal boot to gain access to the door lock/switch assembly behind the front panel of the washer. Be careful not to tear the seal boot because it will cause water to leak from the tub.
  4. Remove the three screws securing the door lock/switch assembly to the front panel.
  5. Lift the door lock/switch assembly and pull it away from the front panel then pull it out of the machine.
  6. Disconnect the wiring harness connector and connect the new door lock/switch assembly.
  7. Reinstall the new door lock/switch assembly and the seal boot in reverse order of the procedure above.

My machine wont start ,unless i really have to slam the door real

Either the switch striker/actuator on the door is worn or the door lock/switch assembly on the right side of the door opening is faulty. It is recommended to replace both parts when one is faulty or worn. The door lock/switch assembly is part number 1094190 and costs about $55. The switch striker/actuator is part number 906446 and costs about $5.

Door Lock/Switch Replacement Procedure
  • Unplug the machine.
  • Open the machine's door.
  • Locate the retainer spring of the seal boot retaining hoop at the bottom of the door opening.
  • Stretch the retainer spring apart then remove the retaining hoop.
  • Ease the edge of the seal boot off the lip of the door opening near the door lock/switch assembly. Remove enough of the seal boot to gain access to the door lock/switch assembly behind the front panel of the washer. Be careful not to tear the seal boot. It will cause water to leak out of the machine.
  • Remove the three screws securing the door lock/switch assembly to the front panel.
  • Slightly lift the door lock/switch assembly, pull it away from the front panel then pull it out of the machine.
  • Disconnect the wiring harness and connect the new door lock/switch assembly.
  • Reinstall the new door lock/switch assembly and the seal boot in reverse order of the procedure above.

The door leaks on my whirlpool front load model wfw8300sw03, looks like the door isnt sealing tightly, if I push on the door it stops lealing, any ideas?

you might have a bent door hinge, but most likely you have a worn door boot. its the grey rubber thing that the glass seals to.
try to lift up on the door to get the hinges back into place and if that doesnt work then you might need to replace the door boot.
look at the edge of the boot where the glass hits it. the glass must seal to the rubber and if the rubber is worn or torn then it wont seal.
not an easy piece to replace but it can be done. i wouldnt recommend trying it first as you will find it very tight to get your hands into and the clamps are hard to figure out as well.

Door seal

switch off from mains
remove outer clamp holding door boot to cabinet and peel off door boot.
remove work top
there is a clamp holding door boot to tub. undo clamp and pull door boot away
lubricate slot in door boot that goes on to the lip of the tub using washing up fluid
starting at the top, insert lip of tub into slot in door boot. working both ways round, push door boot onto lip
fit outer clamp
push door boot on to lip of the cabinet and fit clamp.
test for leaks on a rinse cycle (water level is higher) water will be a bit foamy till washing up fluid is washed away
easy job but needs a bit of patience so go for it

Fitting door seal

this is general for fittying door boots.

on cabinet, door boot is usuallyn held by a wire ring tensioned by a small spring. prise it out with a screwdriver.

on tub, door boot is held usually by a giant hose clip for want of a better description. unscrew the tensioning screw and remove.

door boot will then pull off - just pull it off in one place then go round the circle.

to refit.

lubricate the groove in the door boot that fits on the tub with washing up liquid. insert groove on tub at any convenient place and force into position by running thumbs round it in opposite directions. this is a knack i have to say.

when on, replace the giant hose clip and tighten.

slip the outer part of the door boot on the cabinet - this is usually easy. replace the holding clip.

put onto rinse cycle to test for leaks

good luck
