Sony KDL40NX700 - The TV turns off and on by itself about 30 seconds after I turn it on. I've noticed it only does it if I change the channel within the first 30 seconds of turning it on while the channels are loading up. Why does it do this?
but why should it matter when I change the channel, it shouldn't be turning off by itself. I just need to know if its something that happens in new tvs or is there something wrong with it.but why should it matter when I change the channel, it shouldn't be turning off by itself. its hard to tell from distance what really wrong, but sounds to me like a cold soldering. pls let your tv check by local electronics service or authorized sony service.

If this is a flat panel LCD tv, this is a sure sign that the panel itself is bad. I have seen this before. Tv comes on works fine then within 5 minutes goes blank.
I had the same problem. Tech support told me to turn the tv off, then unplug it. Then hold the power button (on the tv - on the bottom of left side) in for 30 seconds and try again. This did solve my problem.
the problem is with the control panel of your tv...make sure your remote doesnt have any part in this...just remove and the batteries and check if the channels still are changing.....see if the onboard switch for channel changing is stuck ?..if stuck u can use homemade tools to pull it back......if your tv is within your gurantee period...just giv a call to customer care....if not u can take it to a local repair shop...there is nothin that u can urself do to make it right ...sorry....for further info contact at
