Best system for this board is windows Xp 64 bit, these are solid little boards that very rearly let you down and if you dont mind xp stick to it, Vista requires more memory to run the operating system

To download the vga driver for your motherboard, you can try this link: http://www.driverstock.com/ASUS-P5VDC-MX-driver-download/6-9-10182-81193/index.html
To ensure your system works properly, you will need to locate the drivers for your specific hardware. Your motherboard will have its own drivers, in addition to any expansion cards you have installed, such as a graphics card. Your motherboard drivers can be located at ASUS's website:
If you have not installed an expansion graphics card, and are using the one on your motherboard, this should fix the Windows 7 "transition effects." I believe what you are referring to is the Aero theme. If you are using an expansion graphics card, you will need to get the drivers from the appropriate manufacturer (generally NVIDIA or ATI). If the effects still are not working after you install the appropriate drivers for your system, you can right click the desktop, and click Personalize. This should bring you to a screen where you can choose an Aero theme.
Also of final note, the Aero effects are not available under Windows 7 Starter, so make sure you are using Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate Edition.
Please let me know if you need any additional help with this. Thanks!
