In this case i would say the motor has given up.as a safety backup if the compressor comes on and finds no gas it shuts of to prevent over heating and fire but test the thermistat first to make sure its not faulty

Bad compressor or low on refrigerant gas. They click on an overheat situation. You need a refrigeration engineer.

My A C conpressor is cycleing realy fast, every few min. would it be the conpressor capacitor ?

No. It is "short cycling" probrably because it is low on refrigerant which means there is a leak somewhere. The refrigerant cools your compressor windings. If it is low it cannot cool the windings and it will stop the compressor due to a temp overload. As soon as the compressor cools back down it closes the bi-metal switch and allows the compressor to start again. The cycle will repeat itself until the compressor finally quits. Hope this helps.

You have the fridge in warranty period and so must be consulted. It is possible that the compressor motor/compressor has failed.hence the noise was heard prior to this failure.Advise you to contact Whirlpool for free replacement.

Why is my fridge buzzing?

The compressor is trying to start. The overload kicks out and then it takes 10 min or so for it to cool enough to try starting again. It could be a bad start relay or a broken compressor.

Amana Cooling Condensing Unit fan won't kick on

be aware that not repairing this asap that you are causing yourself more problems First I would change out the fan capacitor and see if this could be the problem. Secondly if the capacitor isn,t the problem change out the motor . By continuing to allow the system to cycle like this the compressor will take a dive on you costing more . Good Luck

99 Ford Superduty Air Conditioner quits working after 10-15 min.

i have an f250 diesel. Same thing, shuts off after about 10 minutes and comes on when it feels like it. Its not the cycling switch. I checked the voltage at the compressor clutch and its 12v. I also, made a "new" ground for the compressor. The black wire at the compressor is ground. This didn't do anything, nor did checking the freon. It will also shut off if you have run it for a while, turn the HVAC selector to off and back on. Although it has power at the clutch (compressor) it didn't come back on.. this is weird.. i think. I was sitting there trying to figure it out and used my test like to "nudge" the clutch on the compressor.. gave it a little "push start" and it came on again.. seems it needs a new compressor? I will see what happens this weekend when i try that. Also, the pressure and contamination switches, are open circuits, that closed and predetermined settings, they are not tied into the ground of the compressor, but "looped" thru the circuit.

I Have 1997, 850 Volvo with Intermittent A/C Problem.

Most probably it is the clutch gap on the compressor. I had the same problem on my 1998 V70.

See instructions on how to fix it on the Volvo forum.

Sears Kenmore 53652300, doesn't cool

This usually indicates that the compressor is working too hard and drawing too much current. The click that you hear is a safety shut-off. Possible causes of this are numerous and usually require having a professional come in to fix the issue, it can range anywhere from a faulty compressor to a bad start relay.

There is in most cases a temporary fix, it is called a hard start relay/capacitor. It is usually available from an appliance parts retailer for around $15 to $20. Installation instructions are included, just be sure to unplug your refrigerator first and make sure that someone following you can repair from where you left off. This relay assembly can normally get you up and running but it should not be used as a permanent fix. This will not correct for a refrigerant leak in the system.

Check your refrigerator owners manual before making any repairs or modifications to your refrigerator, there may be an extended warranty on the sealed system and compressor.
