Out of the blue my Viewsonic PJD5111 will not start. the temp and lamp lights are red and the ring light is purple. The unit has less than 1500 hrs on it. The unit was working fine on Tuesday night and on Friday night this problem.
Did you ever resolve this? I have the same problem with low hours on my bulb. I can't find anywhere to troubleshoot these error light codes (ex. Purple, red, red). I am in a remote area to be able to send it back in to the states. Thanks.Did you ever resolve this? I have the same problem with low hours on my bulb. Check if there is a cooling fan. Is it rotating?
It is also possible that the filter is dusty and needs to be cleaned/replaced.
(all projectors have a cooling fan and a filter to prevent dust from reaching the lamp. A faulty fan or a reduced air flow may cause an overheat problem)
Unfortunately, the PJD5111 is indicating that the lamp has overheated. If you wait 45 minutes for the projector to cool down and these lights still come on, then the unit has an internal failure. The failure may be in the temperature sensor or that circuit. If the projector is still under warranty or on a maintenance plan, contact the dealer.
i have the same problem, been workign on it for a week now... someone says the color wheel might be off thus, noit detecting the correct RPM of the color wheel, and you will have to open the machine up and re adjust by hand. im about to take it apart now... wish me luck
its really hard to tell without being there to see what its actrually doing, Im asumed is out of warranty and few things you can do yourself. go ahead since its projection tv is to open the back up and check the fuses and the lamp, make sure is unplug and use a good lighting so you can truly see clear of the circuits board. some boad will have its own fuses and check them all make sure they are good. pull the lamp out and check it. projector tv are not hard to work on since is big and easy access behind the TV. to test the lamp you can take it to the local tv shop and have it tested for nothing. If all the lamp and fuses check out fine to fix your problems I would not think it will cost more than 150-200 to fix it. hope that help some ..Good luck
