Hello

I dont know of a good way to tell people bad news. The problem with the blue dots is expensive. A part called the optical block is failing. In general, the optical block takes the red green and blue pictures from the little lcd screens and puts everything togther perfectly. This requires several mirrors, filters, lcds, and parts that I dont even know the names of.

Buying a brand new optical block is a 1000 to 3000 dollar thing. To have the block rebuilt is about 350 dollars.

Sony has been trying to make the customers who purchased these tv's happy by providing extended warrentys, or giving them a special deal on a similar sized new LCD tv.

I would try to complain to sony and see what you can get accomplished. If you do opt to repair the optical block the odds are that it will happen again in a few years. Ebay and the chicago craigs list are where I have seen the guys who are capable of rebuilding those blocks.

I am sorry for the bad news.

AFTER REPLACING THE LAMP, I HAD TO PUT THE COVER ON AND NOW THE SCREEN HAS TINY BLUE DOTS AND THE POWER LIGHT STAYS GREEN. THE LAMP LIGH IS NOW ON AND RED

The blue dots are due to a failing optic block. The lamp is only making them show up more obviously. The TV is probably failing as the blue dots will get larger and eventually take over the screen.

Little blue dots on screen and large blue haze in upper left corn

Sounds like the light engine is going bad...that's why they stopped making these rear projection sets using LCD's. Costs almost as much as a new set! But get a second opinion before trashing it.

Blue tints w/ tini blue dots

if you see blue pixel type groups of squares or dots you may have a burnt light engine and this is common in many LCD rear projection sets; a blue screen may mean the engine became burnt--LCD rear projection sets of this kind have an optical enginge--with red, green, blue prizims--sometimes they get burned by the lamp---a photo would tell me or most techs what the problem is---the cost of a replacement engine is very expensive--some models with this problem are covered by Sony even if the set is no longer in warrant

Kf-42610 blue hue and blue dots on screen

Hi Guys

The Blue dots or discolouration you are seeing is due too the Blue LCD screen having cracked from excessive heat. This normally happens when you have a power failure while the Television was on. This obviously because the Blue LCD sits next to the lamp - the main cause of heat. The correct part number on the 60" is A-1086-952-A. It is very, very ,expensive.

Sorry to have been the bearer of bad news. Good luck : )
