Just bought an ion tailgater and the microphone has no sound. Just wondering if it could be something besides a bad mic?

It could be a bad mic cable or connector. If it is a cheap mic cable, then the chances are very good that the cable has shorted internally. If the mic works on something else, then it is possible that there is a setup function that you have to turn on/off for the mic to work.

From what I can see from your photos, I would bet on a low quality MIC cable.

Mic sound muffled static

Buy a better mic! This question reminds me of the musicians who invest in a nice JBL public address system but then use Radio Shack microphones. A good quality mic, not GREAT but just good will cost you a minimum of $100. Quit playing with toys and invest in real recording gear. Computers and hard drive recorders can easily record CD quality audio, and-so why would you use a $70 mic?

Want to use 2 wireless mics, getting interference or something when both are turned on. Are there specific settings I should use?

Its going to be dependent on the mics, any high-quality mics should have different channel options, ensuring that they are on seperate channels should fix any interference issues (unless the interference is coming from a different source)
Good luck, if you found this post helpful, please give me a good review :)

1994 Toyota 4Runner, Rear window goes down on one side but not the other and then won't go back up. The key and the console button both work but I heard some sort of metal component inside the tailgate...

Sounds like something just fell apart inside. Probably just a roller or something. If you can't do it yourself, it shouldn't cost too much. Just make sure you stand there and watch, so you don't get ripped off. In fact, if you take the cover off the inside of the tailgate, maybe you can fix it yourself.

1998 dodge ram 1500 need to open up the tailgate

not sure what you mean by "sealed unit". if your problem is that your tailgate wont latch together properly, check the condition of the tailgate cables and look for damage to the outer covering and cable itself. it could be that the cable is getting caught b/w gate and bed when you close it. due to a misalignment. yes, i would lubricate the mechanisms with wd40, or a quality graphite lubricant. i would also access the internal mechanisms that actuate the tailgate opening. lubricate those parts too. finally make sure that the cable's tang is slid past on the bolt. this should fix your issues.

Sound on Video?

Hey Alymac,
Digital still cameras are not designed to record high quality audio. The mic used to record the audio is probably OK for normal audio situations, but not for difficult recording situations like concerts. To get a good quality video that has good quality audio I would invest in a high quality digital camcorder. What your camera was picking up is all the atmospheric noise that is going on around you. You probably didn't notice it because a concert is usually a loud environment. To get a good quality recording of a concert you would need a mic that focuses where it picks up its audio from instead of from all sounds surrounding you.

Sincerely,
Allan

Professional voice recording on PC

Hi Stalks!

The good news is that making high quality recordings of a voice is a lot easier than say, of a band. In fact you do not need anything fancy to do this, just a good quality headset and microphone and some software.

I am going to assume that you are aware that you can use the media program in windows to record in WAV format. If you did not know that, simply Google WAV and record and you will find many articles that detail how to do that with a stock windows system.

I am also going to assume that you have an MP3 program and know how to use it. If you do not, well, there are free and trial versions (such as Soundforge) online, and you should download a few and try them out to see which one you like best. Almost all of these allow you to convert WAV to MP3.

The question of the headset and mic is a thorny one... You basically have two options but before I detail them, let me explain why you should use a headset with mic as opposed to just a mic alone.

When you use just a mic, background noise and your voice often create minor feedback sounds on the recording. That does not happen every time but it happens often enough due to the cheap nature of most PC mics that it is not worth trying to correct. A good quality headset and mic combination offers you an input device engineered for just what you want to do!

You can go two ways here - either a USB Headset and mic or one that uses the 5mm plugs on your computer soundcard.

I have used both, and I find that the USB type often give the best results but also happen to be more expensive. The reason for that is because they are not just a headset and mic but also have a USB soundcard integrated into them, hence the extra cost.

The less expensive option is a standard headset and mic that use the audio in and out ports on your soundcard. Over the years I have used a number of these and I find that Sennheiser makes the best unit for the price range.

You can find reasonably priced Sennheiser models at www.newegg.com and at your local superstores (ie Best Buy or Staples).

I hope that this helps you.

Mic don't work

I replaced this unit with another one I got on Ebay (different brand). Had the same problem! So I figured I was doing something wrong and I was. Eventually I disconnected the digital coax (which I was using for top quality) and just used regular A/V leads. Apparently digital coax can't take the Karaoke music AND the mic audio across to the receiver at the same time. Everything works now. Hope that helps you.
