Cold water runs for only a short time when filling, but hot water runs as normal. On rinse (cold water) it only runs for 6 to 20 seconds at a time then stops for a few minutes, only to run for a few seconds again. I cleaned the inlet filters and the water flow volume is normal when it runs. What could the cause be? Cold inlet valve problem?

You need to replace the cold inlet valve, I assume the water pressure is o/k.

When turned to "cold" the

Rinse is always cold only on most machines. Why? Because rinse with hot water causes wrinkles. You have a bad cold water solenoid or fouled cold water valve innards from lime and such OR a clogged water valve inlet screen on the cold water side. Remove the cold water hose and check for blocked screen.

Whirlpool auto load not filling with water to wash, but will go to rinse cycle

There are 2 inlet valves 1 for hot water and 1 for cold. Sounds like your hot water valve is either faulty or the hot water valve to it is off. The machine normally fills with hot water as it doesn't have a heating element to heat the water and fills with the cold water to rinse

I have exactly the same problem. I am currently getting around the issue by letting the machine do the washing then at the end of that cycle do a manual rinse cycle.

THE TUB OF THE WASHER GETS REALLY LOW WHEN IS FILLED WITH WATER. NOW, ALSO THE WATER DOSENT COME IN WHEN I TURN IT ON

All top suspend tub washers drop down when they fill with water. And they rise again when they have pumped the water out. This is normal.
What is not normal is water not coming in.'

check following:
Water is turned on
Remove inlet hose and run water to see if it is blocked.
Clean the inlet filters.
If you hear a buzz but no water goes in the inlet valve needs replacing.
If yu use only cold water try swapping the cold hose onto the Hot inlet. Then select Warm Wash.
Then only turn on the Cold Tap.
This will allow you to fill the machine and do a wash.
Watch out though when it comes to the Rinse position......some machines only do a cold rinse, and because you have swapped the hose over to hot it will not fill to rinse the clothes. Until you can get a Tech to do the repair you can just use either a bucket to add cold water for the rinse or use the garden hose to fill the tub with cold water for the rinse.
Have yu got all that?

Fisher and Paykel GW11 not staying hot

WHEN I CALLED FISHER AND PAYKEL PARTS CENTER WITH THE SAME PROBLEM . THIS IS THE REPY I RECEIVED. "THE HOT WATER FILLS IN FOR A SHORT TIME, THEN THE DIRVERTER RECIRCULATES FOR A FEW MORE MINUTES, THEN FILLS THE REMAINING WATER LEVEL YOU HAVE SELECTED WITH COLD WATER. THE REASON BEING: (GET THIS) FISHER PAYKEL SAYS THAT THE AMOUNT OF HOT WATER AT THE BEGINING OF THE
CYCLE IS SUFFICIENT TO DISOLVE THE DETERGENT. AFTER THE DEVERTER CYCLE (THE SIDE RINSE AS YOU CALLED IT) THE REMAINING WILL BE COLD WATER FILL".
HE ALSO STATED MANY PEOPLE CALL HIM ON THIS AND HE SAID IN THE MANUAL IT IS EXPLAINED THAT THIS IS THE WAY THE MACHINE WORKS. SO MUCH FOR ECOSMART

All cycles run cold

Hello
Welcome.

Faulty Water Inlet Valve
The water inlet valve is the device that meters water from the supply lines into your wash tub. On domestic washers, there are two lines, one hot the other cold. These valves are susceptible to mineral build-up and sediment deposits. There are two common failure modes:

Failure Mode One: Valve will not open.
If you can verify that the solenoid on the valve body is receiving the requisite voltage and the valve will not open, then it is faulty. Since the solenoids operate independently, it is likely that one side of the valve will work and the other will not. This can produce strand results such as a very hot wash when warm is selected (due to no cold water). Or the reverse in that the wash water is cold when warm is selected. If mineral or hard water deposits are a problem, you may witness a substantial increase in the time required for the tub to fill. This is caused be a decrease in the flow ware of the valve.

Failure Mode Two: Valve opens but will not close.
This is verified by a valve that allows water to flow into the tub even though no power is being supplied to the solenoid. This one is usually quickly diagnosed when the machine begins to overflow and the power plug for the washer is disconnected from the wall. However, this will not stop the water from flowing into the machine. The water must be shut off at the wall. As with the previous failure mode, the variant of this failure mode is that it may take the valve a while to completely bridge the flow of water after the power has been removed from the solenoid.

How to Diagnose?
There are a couple of ways to diagnose a faulty valve. However, there is a simple test that one can perform that will usually let you know if the water inlet valve is faulty.

Scenario:
When set to cold wash and rinse, the unit will not fill. When set to warm wash and cold rinse the washer will fill with hot water only and will fail to rinse. This is a common scenario where the cold water side of the valve does not appear to be contributing to the fill, but the hot water side does. This symptom could be easily reversed where cold water is being supplied, but never hot water.

So, how can the problem be determined? It is as simple as switching the wire harness plugs on the hot and cold side. In the example above where the cold water is never being supplied, the symptoms would be the opposite when the wiring harnesses were switched. So the machine would produce only produce cold when warm or hot is selected. No water should be present when you select cold. This verifies that the timer, wiring and switches are all in working order. Assuming this tests checks out, you simply need to replace the water inlet valve.

Recent Customer Symptoms:
I have a Kenmore Washing Machine. My question is if I set the washer on cold was and cold rinse it will not fill with water but if I set it on hot wash and cold rinse it will fill with Hot water and wash normally but when it comes to rinse with cold no water will fill and will go to the spin cycle assuming that it had filled with water. There is water in the cold water source. Any idea??? I was assuming the timer but not to sure.
