Soap dispenser stuck on LG WM2277HW

Is there any way to get the soap dispenser drawer out if it is stuck in the closed position? When I tried to pull it out the front cover popped off but the drawer is still stuck. UGH!

I have the same problem can not open the dispenser when I pul hard then the front plate comes off and the dispenser is still in the closed position.

I had the same problem. I "solved" it for awhile by banging on the top of the front of the dispenser door with my fist while pulling on it at the same time. A more permanent fix: I soaked the whole drawer in a sinkful of water and limeaway to clear away lime deposits. I used a scrubbie in the chamber where the drawer goes. Before I reinserted the dispenser drawer, I used a clear wax crayon (usually for zippers, can also use a clear utility candle) along the plastic ridges that stick up on each side of the drawer.

I have the same exact problem.  I removed the entire top of the unit to see if I could see anything and nothing appeared out of the ordinary.  I tried pulling the drawer out slightly and sliding a butter knife into the slot and pressing down, but that didn't help either.  With the top off, you can see the entire dispenser assembly though.  On the right side and left sides, I popped off the sides to I could try to "look down" into the dispenser.  Well you can't get the entire top off unless you pull out the dispenser drawer and remove the 2 screws that hold the drawer assembly in.  When I did pop it up though, to the point where the only tabs holding the top part in were the front left and right ones, the drawer slid out.

Mine had no gunk or anything in it.  What I did find out that through trial and error was that the back right tray, which is the softener tray had become dislodged slightly so that when it was inserted, the front lifted up slightly, thus preventing it from opening.  It has two small plastic retainer clips in the rear that hold it down, mine were simply worn down so that it was not holding the cup down properly.  I removed it, and now with the drawer lid fastened back down, the drawer works like it used to.  I don't think you have to have that cup in there, so I took mine out.  If you look at the way it dispenses the softener, it almost looks like a time dispense thing, or when the cup reaches a certain water level, some softener goes down.

    Hope that helps someone else.

Great advice. I used a portion of you plan. Pulled off the top, but since the softener cup is on the right, I only uncliped the 3 clips on that side of the assembly. With those loose, I could pry gently up on the back portion of the assembly lid, and the drawer pulled out.

I also see no need for the cover, other than a measuring device. So removed the screws at the front, pushed the assembly back into the washer, and unclipped the rest of the lid. Once the lid of the tray assembly was off, it was easy to remove the softener cover. The only challenging part was getting the re-closed assembly to go back into the cut-out in the face metal. I got caught a couple times, but getting my hand up under the assemble allowed be to push evenly up on both sides as I pushed it forward into place.

Now the door works fine again. Seems to be a significant design flaw by LG.

Hope the helps other.

OK, just went through this problem.
1a) look at the manual linked above for where everything is1b) Take the top cover off so you can access the dispenser2) The dispenser is still bolted to the front of the machine. This problem is compounded by the fact that the screws you need take out are blocked by the front of the drawer that is stuck. So I took a drill and bored out small holes through the plastic so I could access each of the two screws holding the dispenser in place.3) Unscrew the two holding screws. Save them. Now slide the dispenser towards the back of the machine to free it from the hooks on the left side. I was not able to fully pull it free but you need a little more room for step 4. Also, peel off the cable on the right side of the dispenser so it does not get pulled when you move the dispenser.4) There are 6 clips (3 to a side) on the dispenser that need to be lifted. Once all 6 clips are free, lift up on the back of the dispenser lid (near the hoses) pry the lid off. Once the lid is off you should be able to take the drawer out and freely move the dispenser around.
So in my case it was the blue softener lid (back right) that was warped and causing the problem.

The front of the blue top of the softener dispenser got stuck preventing the drawer from opening in my LG also. I found this site and did top removal, un-clipped and raised right side of plastic box and managed to get drawer out. I removed the blue softener top which fixed the problem with sticking but the wife said with it gone the softener dispenser was left full of water so she had to empty it before each use, a PITB. I took off top again removed the entire plastic box (held in place by two screws in front and two tabs on left side, also removed big hose at the rear bottom). I pushed in plastic clips and popped off the top. I determined the front of the blue top had to be hanging on the rear lip of the Pre-wash water dispenser. I filed down the back lip of the Pre-wash water dispenser area on the lid of the box (took it down about 1/2 way). Re-assembled and re-installed the box and dispenser tray. I tested many (75-100?) in/outs of the dispenser tray with the blue softener top in place, no hang-ups. Re-connected big hose at rear, put top back on, ran a dummy wash cycle to check for leaks. If it hangs up again I'll do a bit more filing of the lip as this seems to be the problem area. I'll post update if further modifications are required.

I miraculously avoided all of the unclipping and everything else by partially lifting the right side of the dispenser box enough to see the blue softener cover, inserte a screwdriver in and pushed down on the cover while sliding the drawer out and it worked!!!!

Same deal happened with me. I just unclipped one side of the dispenser top and lifted it enough to allow the drawer to slide open. Once the drawer was open, I could remove those irritating little compartment lids that kept jamming the drawer shut. Closed it all back up and everything works fine.

Water is gushing out LG front loader washer dispenser as opposed into the machine.

Pull the dispenser drawer right out and give it a wash, removing all traces of soap residue.

Examine the space the drawer occupied and you will probably find more soap residue, some of which has blocked the exit(s) into the washtub.

The soap drawer receptacle is connected to the washtub by a hose or hoses which might also be blocked - in this case they should ideally be removed for thorough cleaning but something could perhaps be fashioned to do the job. A teapot spout cleaning brush firmly attached to a flexible curtain wire...

The dispenser drawer on my LG WM2277HW is stuck and I can't open it. Suggestions on what to do to fix this.

Hi Elaine258, you may need to take a look into it from the top, the soap, softener dispenser may be catching. Fairly straight forward to do, disconnect from the mains, two fasteners at the back hold the top on (if I remember right) lift top up from back and push forward, vvwalla.
Hope this helps.

WM2277HS front loader , the drawer to put the detergent in is stuck, how do I get it open?

I have slightly different model. Tried the remove the top option. It turned out the the drawer assembly had removable top, removed to two screws that held the assembly in place, uncliped e front assymply drawer handle and cleaned out the soap deposits. Soap build up under dispenser parts had caused the problem. It seems like running the machine a few times might have cleared the soap.

My new LG washer always has water in the soap dispenser, bleach dispenser, and fabric softener dispenser after the cycle has finished. Is this normal?

Mine too!! Very annoying, especially since the water then drains down onto to floor and has actually made the door hinges stiff! I just use powdered bleach now.

Fabric softener not draining

Remove the dispenser drawer by pushing down on the tab at the center back and pulling drawer out. Now, remove the top of the fabric softener compartment and the parts of the soap dispenser and clean them all out. An old toothbrush often helps. Reassemble and replace. They should siphon out now.

Cant open soap drawer on washer

I opened up the top of the washer by unscrewing the screw in the back. then I pressed down hard on the white plastic cover of the soap dispenser that you will see on the front left hand side of the machine. I also moved it slightly to the right by pushing on the side of the same unit.

The soap dispenser then opened up fine. I cleaned out the soap dispenser from any crud that developed in it. Now it opens and closes nicely.

Did you know there is a class action lawsuit against LG for mold that develops inside of this model washer? I joined in the lawsuit. There should be no mold accumulating in any washer.

Soap Dispenser drawer will not open.

Upon taking the top of washer off, it exposes the liquid dispenser. There are three snap clips on the right side as you look at it from the front. Unsnap and lift slightly on the dispenser lid. This should provide the clearance you need to open the drawer. Examine the blue covers for the fabric softener and bleach. You will see scrape marks where it has been rubbing on the the top cover when closing and opening. Using a soldering iron or an abrasive, wear down the sharp edges that are catching...This solved the problem for me.. ( :
