My LCD displays "Replace PF Kit 1". I've read in relation to other Brothers that this can be reset.
What is the procedure for this MFC-8460N model?
Thanks!
Same with me on my MFC 8870DW. The procedure worked perfectly:
1) Turn off printer
2) Press and hold menu button and turn on. Keep holding button until you see maintenance on display.
3) Press 88. This brings up parts replacement menu.
4) Press Up arrow until you see the part you replaced (laser, fuser, pf kit1, pf kit mp).
5) Press the OK button.
6) Power off and restart printer.
But how do I know whether or not I really NEED to replace a PF Kit1? I guess I'll find out if it recurs soon.

I had the same issue with a MFC-8460, and the same solution as the 8860 worked.
Thanks for the help
Thank you for answer. It solve my issue.
It came up with another error for laser so I did the same thing again and scrolled through to laser and it fixed the error.Thankyou
From what I could figure out from experimenting on an MFC-8860DN we are junking the procedure is:
1) Turn off printer
2) Press and hold menu button and turn on. Keep holding button until you see maintenance on display.
3) Press 88. This brings up parts replacement menu.
4) Press Up arrow until you see the part you replaced (laser, fuser, pf kit1, pf kit mp).
5) Press the OK button.
6) Power off and restart printer.
Not sure if this applies to the 8460. Maintenance menu feels dangerous, so use at your own risk.

Oh yeah, BTW: if it's not clear, I don't want/need to replace the Tray 1 PF kit. It still works. It seems to be very common with this Brother that things "need" to be replaced before they actually do.
I wonder why that is? [duh: $$$].
I got this same message on my MFC-8460n m/c this morning. I've just gone through the maintenance 88 routine and this appears to have cleared the error. I actually had to follow this process twice more as after resetting the PF Kit, I got a further 2 error messages to replace the Fuser & Laser. By going through the maintenance 88 routine for both of these, my printer is now printing & copying again.
Thank You!
I had the same problem for an 8460, and the same solution for teh 8860 worked.
I spoke with tecnical support and they told me that this error ment that I had a virus. From doing my research it sounds like it is paper feed issue. Does anyone know?
how to replace the pf kit
