Moldy smell in washer

Hi - we moved into a new house in February & my hubby installed the washer & dryer. ever since we moved in the washer has a moldy smell in it, and if you leave the clothes in the washer for more than 2-3 minutes after the wash is complete, the clothes smell nasty & have to be re-rinsed. After the clothes are removed, the washer still smells as well. Have not had this problem before, and have had the washer several years.Any ideas? (my hubby wonders if there may be standing water in the draining area? but no idea how to check it)

I had this problem and it stuck up the whole house (2 story), laundry upstairs. The way I got the problem to go away was: 1) Use a good brand detergent (I use Tide HD). When I used the kirkland brand HD was when I notice the issue. 2) Do as Solution #1 instructed, run cycle with bleach on hot/hot. 3) After every wash, leave the washer door open. These instructions will help with the problem.

Run cycle using bleach only in water after cycle use a bleach/water solution to thoroughly wash door seal be sure to pull seal at bottom of drum opening and clean inside lip in future leave door open as much as possible between cycles just remember YOU ARE NOT ALONE..all front loaders no matter the brand have same issue some just worse than others

My clothes come out of the washer smelling fresh and clean. After drying in the dryer, they smell mildewy.

Check for lint buildup in the vent discharge hose/pipe and the inside of the dryer blower housing.
Heavy wet lint buildup will cause a moldy/mildewy smell that you describe.
Heavy lint build up will also increase the drying time, and it is a fire hazzard

It sounds like your leaving the clothes in the washer long after the cycle is finished. Once your clothes smell from the washer they will smell moldy dry.

Washer not washing leaving stains on clothing

It sounds like the silicone apron between your washer drum and the door has deteriorated. If that is the case, no cleaner will help you.
Best solution is to order a new one.

Neptune MLG2000A doesn't drain completely and has moldy smell

You need to clean the stationary "brush" that collects lint and debris from the water during the cycle. The brush can be seen around the tub directly touching it along the bottom/front of the device. Right were I pour my detergent in, after the cloths are in there. To remove the debris I use a bottle brush. You can expect to use trial and error for your attempts. As far as the water being left.... My device has always left water in the bowl. I periodically just run a cycle with no cloths and bleach...HOT.....Mine is not spinning at the moment...again....I think its another call to the local dealer....AGAIN....

Smell after drying

Try drying your clothes without the dryer sheet and see if the smell is still there. If it is not, then the problem is the dryer sheet.
If it is, then you need to describe the smell better. Different people handle smells differently. What smells musty to you may smell fragrant to others.
You need to determine if the smell you don't like is really a musty smell, or is it a fragrance you don't like. Have some friends (not family members) smell the clothes and verify if what you are smelling is musty or fragrant.

It could also be that even though the clothes smell OK out of the washer, that the detergent you are using is the cause.

LG dishwasher always smells moldy

could be a very small leak with the hoses leading into the washer, there is insulation around the washer that is a breeding ground for mold. I would recommend you have someone with decent mechanical experience, doesn't need to be a plummer just someone who knows how to use tools, pull the washer out refit the hoses with new seals and replace the insulation. Also the vinegar does work to help clean your washer, it removes calcium and other mineral build ups throughout the washer.

Moldy smell

Hi Jewel,
You may want to try some Washer Magic, or similar product specifically designed to clean out washing machines. I personally use Affresh in my front loader and it works very well.

The machine smells moldy...

moldy smell, may not be mold at all, in fact most "moldy musty" smells actually come from user not using proper detergents, you NEED to be using an HE detergent and little amounts of that even. cut back on fabric \softneer if using, www.affresh.com new product to help alleviate this issue

Moldy smell

Turn it off, unplug it. Remove filter and check if filter and/or filter and pump housing are clogged with something "smelly". When you're at it check the drain pipe for too.
