I have a Compaq c300 laptop works fine whilst connected to a desk top monitor but on its own, at boot the screen has horizontal white lines about 1/3 from the top of the screen. After it finishes booting up the screen is blue with a series of vertical black lines any help would be great thanks

Since the laptop works fine with an attached monitor, it means the problem is the inverter.

The problem with your laptop screen is that the inverter is malfunctioning, that is why you have those three equal horizontal sections.

Change the inverter of your laptop screen and you will see that the screen will be stable back.
