The washer is making a very loud noice and i noticed slight smell of burning during cycle! The drum seems very unstable too! Could this be the drive belt? Is this fixable or am i looking at a new one? With thanks

Sounds like the main drum bearings have failed.
Spin the drum by hand from inside, if it feels rough, or it is noisy or rumbling, then the bearings habve fauiled.
Probably better to buy a new washer.

Washing machine travels during the spin cycle

Hi - Try to rotate the drum when it is not in use, manually and see if you notice the sound as well. If you do the drum is not balanced and you would need a professional technician to diagnose the bearing and pulley system behind the drum for repairs.

Washer make noise doing spin cycle smell smoke make the power cord warm to touch

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site Joe. Usually, if a washer makes noises during spinning, it means the drive basket is broken. Make sure your pulley's are not sticking and rubbing the belt. This causes the basket to be unstable during the spin cycle. As far as the smell of smoke, try checking the belt and make sure it is not worn or loose. Inspect the motor to check for noises, grinding, or smoke. Your transmission may be burning up. Usually, the cord will remain warm, but not hot. The washer may be working extra if a belt is sticking or during the spinning process. If you have any other questions Joe, just let me know. Thanks for using FixYa.

Loud noise, then not so loud, but now electrical burning smell and little draining

the smell is your clutch and the lack of draining is a clogged washer drain protector. see these at www.repairclinic.com drain protector is part 541811 and clutch is 2670. go there enter model number and scroll down to the red 100 click it and look for these part numbers.

"howling" noise during spin cycle (still there after changing burned off belt)

Travioso, there was two service flashes out on this model concerning the seal and bearing which means they had an issue with this washer. The howling noise you are hearing is the bearing and will need the new designed triple seal and bearing kit. This should be covered under your warranty, I believe it is 5 years. The numbers for the service flashes are TDL-0048A-B. Call Maytag and inquire about these service flashes, these should be covered. Catriver.
