First of all try cleaning the filter inside the back as described by others if this does not work there is a filter in the top. how you clean this is quite easy. all you do is remove the top of the machine by undoing the 2 screws at the back then pull top top backwards when you have removed the top you well see a large metal casing on the left if you are looking from the the back of the machine the filter is in there to remove the casing you pull the small pipe off then undo 5 star headed screws then gently pull the casing off noteing that there is a large pipe at the front when you have remover the casing you will see the filter (the small pipe you removed at the start fits on this filter) clean the filter then put it all back together.
We had a similar problem:- Turn off the electrics, remove bottom back panel. To the bottom right there is a large black outlet convoluted hose. Inside there is a ball filter. We had money, bra pads etc inside this, remove and clean. Re-assemble. Did the trick for me. Richard
I done as shershaz said and unplugged it and this did reset the machine but when i tried doing the washing cycle the same problem occurred during the rinse and spin section. To solve this I turned the dial to the rinse and spin choice (so no wash was happening again) and this has seemed to work as it has gone through the rinse and spin and the final spin successfully. It doesn't really solve the problem at hand but gets round it quite well so is an easy fix so you can get your wash finished! Hope it helps.
Had the same problem (flashing lights).
Found the thermistor (on the dryer housing had fallen apart, replaced this (and freed the jammed up fan inside from fluff built up) and all ran ok. As you say no clue in the user book, but I was drying when it went wrong. As far as I can make out the thermistor should measure about 25Kohm when Ok. If your not sure how to check this get someone to help. Thermistor is available for under £10.
