I have what I would call double images or shadows on the images on my monitor. There is a shadow like image to the left of each image and after sentences / lines of text but not with indidual letters of text.
I sthere any adjustment I can make within windows XP for this problem. This has periodically occured but usually resolved after a restart.I've played with screen resolution but clearly isn't doing it.
I read through other solutions to this problem because I had the same problem. I checked to make sure electrical cords were properly attached, and vola! problem solved! I had no idea this problem could be fixed just by checking the cord connections. Thanks a million for posting this solution. I had been putting up with the shadowing, streaking for months! You really made my day.
I had the same problem. I just tighten the VGA cable on the PC side and I worked.
Try repositioning cables, cords may be too close to a power source that is interfering w/your signal!
Worked for me!

Thanks a lot for your help...... and suggestions....

Your monitor is suffering from "ghosting", or what is probably a sign of age on most CRT type monitors (non flat screen). There's no solution inside Windows, although there might be an adjustment on your monitor you could try (sharpness, etc). You could try powering off and powering on the monitor again after a brief period.
Unfortunately the ultimate solution to this problem is to get a new monitor. Newer LCD monitors don't suffer from this problem and are also a lot easier on the eyes. :)
Yeah thanks it worked just find another outlet,or avoid octopus power sockets, it seems that other home appliances causes the interference,,thank you guys a lot of help!!!!
Man, months with double imaging, saw this post, reached behind the screen and pushed the plug in, all good. Thanks a lot!
Try swapping the blue ended monitor cable around the other way. and ensure the cable is tightly fitted and screwed in at both ends.
I was having the exact same problem with my Viewsonic LCD VA1930wm and I came to realize that my VGA cable was not plugged in all the way. I would suggest swapping out your cable to see if that might be problem

Viewsonic VX2235wm LCD Monitor exhibiting "ghosting, double-imaging or shadowing" of images and/or text with "ghost" or "drop-shadow" immediately to the right of image and/or text. Net results in images and/or text being "out-of-focus."
Restarting computer and turning LCD monitor off and on again had no effect - neither improving nor degrading further the image. Changing screen resolution also had no effect.
My monitor is compaq v410 and is somewhat out of focus. You can hardly read text and see clear outline of pictures. I found out that one of the 15 pins on the cable for connection to my cpu is broken or missing. Do you think replacing the cable will solve the problem or is my monitor already aging?
We have an HP Flat screen that is doing the double imaging. No apparent reason that this started, nor do I know what to check to see what's going on. Any suggestions or HELP......
i,ve encountered shadows, kind'a blurr shadows
images on the screen had a shadow or streak following them. I changed out the display card (twice) with no success. Changed out the display cable and it worked!!!
I had the same problem on a LCD display (dual monitor setup with imac) and the plug just wasn't plugged in all of the way.
