Panasonic home theater system pt760

I just hooked up this home theater system but no sound comes out of the wireless, rear speakers. Help!

  • inbh Jul 06, 2008

Just hooked up my PT760 to my 50PZ85U and had the same problem.  I went through Avia 2 test sounds AND the test tone on the PT760 settings menu and nothing is coming out of the surround speakers.  I called the Panasonic number listed on the receiver ("If you need assistance...." 1-800-211-7262) and after getting a busy signal for the first 20 redials, i finally got through.  The guy was useless and didn't even know about the test tones in the setting menu and kept telling me that the surround speakers are not always used and I had to play an action DVD to get it to work.  I know enough to know that it's not the DVD.

The green light on the wireless unit is on which indicates that it has established wireless link to the receiver.  I would expect that this would not be the case if the unit was switched as suggested above.  Panasonic told me to call and authorized repairman (today is sunday, so will do tomorrow) to get it fixed.  Will update you with the solution....

Make sure you have put the transmitter for the wirless speaker in the slot on the back of the reciever, it is a slim white device that is about 3 to 5 inches long?? and maybe half an inch thick. and make sure it is put in the right way.

Then make sure the wireless speaker is plugged in to the wall outlet.

If this does not work for you it may require being taken in to an authorized panasonic service center. when one part of the wireless system fails (transmitter or reciever) they both must be replaced. they are not interchangable from one panasonic to another.
They have a code in each unit that lets the wireless speaker that came with it only work with the reciever it was sold with.

I have even seen times where the store that sells them swapped the transmitters of two units and then they had two customers very mad at them because the wireless speakers did not work for either person.

Let me know if I can be of any more help.

My Panasonic SC-PT760 system just doesn't sound right. It sounds perfect with every function besides the AUX. Music and DVD's sound how I think a surround sound system should work but my LG HDTV sounds...

it definetly sounds like their is a set-up issue or a grounding issue , refer to your user manual for reference to check your wires ,also bad buzzing sound also comes from cheap rca cables that you might be using for components to your system ,also sometimes the end jacks of the rca get worn out and don,t provide good conductivity , auxillary inputs should be used for playstations or x boxes and not for anything else , hopefully this was helpful, sincerely Glenn

I just bought a dvd home theater system sc-pt760 and i have a 42 inch LG flat screen and the sound wount work on AUX for the TV

Are you using the HDMI connection on both units, the SC-PT760 does have a HDMI input Yes/NO ? If not then it has HDMI output to the LG for HD Picture. What I would do if no HDMI INPUT to the SC-PT760 is available, run out of the TV with the Digital connection into the SC-PT760 Digital Audio in, assign the input as tv and you shoild get TV audio out of your home theatre, you could also use the analog connection audio out of the tv to the home theatre but this would not yield a dolby digital sound.

Can't get the surround sound to play the rear speakers and small front speaker

Sounds like it's just in 2 channel stereo mode, only 2 speakers working out of 5 and a sub, look for a selector switch for switching to 5.1 surround, as far as the no video problem try replacing the cable for the video connection.

Panasonic Home Theater SC-PT760

This is not a problem, this means that your system is working. Polar Express was recorded in Surround Sound with separate tracks for each speaker channel. In most movies you will find that the rear speakers will only play certain sound effects so that it appears they are coming from behind you (gun shot, train, fireworks). Most of the diaglouge will come through the center channel and music/effects through the front left and right, with bass coming from the subwoofer.

Now, you can still hear more from the rear speakers if you like this enveloping effect, or if you like your music coming from all directions. There are Sound Effects options to have the front and back speakers always playing the front track, there is Dolby Pro Logic II that turns stereo sounds (like many TV shows) automatically into 5.1 Surround Sound, and you can also individually change the volume of each speaker.

These are all explained on page 29 of your owner's manual under Sound Options. If you need specific button to button help, let me kow.
