You might operate the joystick all around for several minutes. The joystick is made up of several rehi stats. The rehi stats get dust particles and won't make connection with the power coming in and going out. Therefor causing the buzzer to go off. Corrosion from sitting so long could also be a problem. If at all possible take all of the electrical components apart and make sure that everything is clean. Dust and corrosion free. You may need to buy some electrical contact cleaner.
Over a period of time there is deterioration in all devices, be it mechanical, electrical or electronic. After a lapse of nine years it needs a complete overhaul, in terms of cleaning the system, checking the wiring and replacing the worn out ones, fuses, motors, rheostat switches etc etc. On the mechanical side it has to be the n number of bearings that it has and what not. Long haul.
Hi, When you connect the charger, if the light goes to red to green within a few minutes and the battery power does not last more than 1-2 hours or less, it may indicate that that the batteries will not take a charge anymore and need to be replaced. This can happen if the power chair is stored without being charged for a while. Batteries retail $75-$150 each depending on the model and brand, you will need two of them.
I think this chair uses the VSI joystick controller, and those flash codes are located here: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
If the brake levers are up for release then the lights will flash. Pull up the brake levers completely and see if that is the problem.

I have a Hoveround that is about 9 to 10 years old that has been sitting since day one. we installed 2 new batteries fully charged. When you turn it on the alarm sounds. I get no response from the joy stick back and forth, only the steering.
Can you tell me how much it would cost for an overhaul? or do I have to ask the dealer ?
I'm trying to help someone in need of a hoveround that has no insurance or money, I've already spent
