Disabling the beep on a Kenmore microwave

The beeping on this new Kenmore microwave (model # 87000) is so loud and so disturbing, I want to shut the whole beeping function off. How can I do it? If I can't do it, could a repairman do it.?

I have Kenmore microwave model 721.61820100.
It has an "Option" button. Press it. The display say "NUMBER"
Then press "1". The display should say "SOUND" and then "OFF".
Press "Start" and that beast turns silent, well not really, but the beeps are goooone.

If for some reason you don't like it this way repeat the sequence and the sound this time will turn "ON".

Press and hold the "2" button for 5 seconds. It should beep twice when sounds are turned off or back on.

Reduce volume of microwave beeper, recently completed on a Kenmore 721223.
There are sites that describe removing the piezo electric beeper from the circuit board but you can also easily reduce the volume of the beeper to a tolerable level, i.e. know you have hit a key but not hear the been in the next room. The key is to apply pressure to the sides of the piezo electric beeper. Locate the beeper on the circuit board, place electrical tape over the surface of the beeper to prevent shorting, and then put a 3/4" binder clip on the beeper. The binder clip will apply pressure to the sides of the beeper and cause the volume to be reduced significantly!

Look inside the door for the instructions just below the turntable. There should be options for the settings. it list what each one is. Pressed the right buttons and now no beeps on my microwave. Thanks for posting the question. Brent

Kenmore microwave still beeps when unplugged

There is no battery in a microwave. I can't see how it could still beep for more than a few seconds. Check the kitchen for for another source of the beep. Like a smoke alarm with a weak battery.

How do I turn off the sound on my new Kenmore Elite microwave?

I Believe this model has an options button with codes by numbers which are 1 thru 6 I believe. Either 1 or 2 are sound. So hit the options button and hit the number 1 it should say (sound), Then you will hit 1 again a.k.a. mute, and no more beep beep beep. If 1 is not sound then you may have accidently created a small but deadly emp, so hit stop and you must hit options and then hit 2.

Kenmore pizza microwave beeps constanly

This is not a solution, it is a clarification request, but it looks like FixYa took away that helpful option, too.

I would suggest you post a whole new help request and be sure to tell us:

1. The FULL model number from the tag in or on the microwave. A full Sears/Kenmore model number has 3 digits, a dot, then 8 more digits, such as ###.########

2. Let us know when it beeps. Is it only after cooking? While it's setting idle?

3. Next, let us know if the display has anything in it besides the normal clock time.

A good first step might be a hard reset, accomplished by unplugging the oven for a minute or two, plugging it back in, then resetting the clock.

Chef Banquet - turns off after 7 minutes? Why

It appears the problem is in the keypad controller board, it will only run for 7 minutes and give a loud beep, you need a professional for this, to assess the situation.

Oster Model # OM1101NOE, As others have asked, is there a way to decrease the volume or disable the beep?

This may not be the best solution but I have had a really bad experience with the loudness of the Oster. My girls get up at 5 am to get ready for school and the constant beeping of the pad and the finish bell was soooo disturbing. So I took off the front panel with the number pad and took a screwdriver and poked a hole in the speaker......viola!! NO noise!!! works like a charm

How do I turn off Kenmore Microwave Beeping?

I've got a Honda Civic hybrid with the same noisy beeper. I can't have the parking lights on and the door open. I can't leave the key in the switch while making a phone call etc. I think we have to presume that like the Honda, there is no software controlled override on you microwave beeper... they know best and want you to feel safe and secure that no burglar will be able to make a cup-o-soup in your kitchen without waking you. A few screws and you should be able to expose the main circuit board and apply a layer of bubble gum or silicone caulk or JB Weld to the beeping device. Most have a small hole in a black plastic cylinder... so cover the hole and then test for loudness. For absolute silence, desolder the device from the circuit board and replace with a resistor matching the amount you measure across the beeper contacts with an ohm meter.
