Mixing Arm Doesn't Turn

I recently purchased a new Cuisinart ICE-20 ice cream maker. I could be wrong, but I remember seeing the mixing arm turn the first two times we made ice cream. The second two times only the bowl turned, not the mixing arm. I just need to know: Is the mixing arm supposed to move the ice cream around the bowl, or is the bowl supposed to move the ice cream around the mixing arm? If it is the former, what should I do? Thanks.

As long as it makes the ice cream, it doesn't matter which one turns. If it's not making the ice cream, call Cuisinart, as both the lid and the mixing arm can be replaced.

The cover holds the paddle in place while the bowl turns.

Repair motor arm or make my own

I run mine in an unoccupied room with an old hardcover book and a quart soup can on top. Just a noisy beast but great ice creame when you figure out how to use it. Parts can be found here: http://www.cuisinart.com/parts/ice_cream/ice-50bc.html

The motor arm seems extremely loud. Machine is

Run the machine in another room.
It is due to Cuisinart's cheapo motor.
Also try 1/2 to 2/3 fill batches.
Put a book and a medium food can on top of motor arm to keep it from lifting while mixing.

Ice-cream maker doesn't fit together

Do a 1/2 to 2/3 batch. Put a book and a soup can on top of the mixing arm to keep it down.

The machine does make wonderful Ice cream, however it is noisy and fiddly. Do not try the full batch as it just doesn't work. I find doing 2 half size batches works best. Also find a spare room to run the noisy beast in.

Mixing arm/bowl will not turn once machine is turned on

The only thing I can really suggest is to make sure the easy-lock button is fitted into the right place on the lid, and to make sure that the ice cream mixture is not too thick. But, if the turning paddle is locked into place properly, and the mixture is still in liquid form, then there is a problem with one of several parts - could be the metal sliding switch or even a motorized part. These parts cannot be replaced. It is worth a shot to replace the mixing paddle - the unit has a 3-year warranty, so I would Call Cuisinart to get the part instead of ordering it online - they may or may not give it to you for free. If the new mixing paddle still won't spin, get the unit replaced either thorugh the store (depending on the store -each has a different policy) or get it replaced directly through Cuisinart. This model is actually pretty solid, so a second one shouldn't give you any problems.

Cuisinart ICE-20 AND TURNING PROBLEM

The problem is either the mixing paddle itself or the lid that it fits into - both parts can be ordered from Cuisinart.

Slimy residue when eating product

Most likely the type of heavy whipping cream. I have successfully used TG Lee and Publix brand Heavy Whipping Cream, and have not experienced the problem you are reporting. It was downright delicious.

Cuisinart ice cream-frozen yougurt maker& sorbet maker CIM 60 series

I have the same problem, but it seems that it has gotten worse with time. When I first bought this product 6 years ago it worked fine, now the bowl won't freeze entirely and it has been in the freezer for two days (at the lowest freezer setting). I am wondering if the freezer bowl has a life span.

Problems with "easy-lock" lid

i noticed that the lid doesnt neccessarily "lock" into place, rather sits in there, next to those tear drop looking things.

No power to the unit

Make sure the bowl and mixing paddle are in correct place, and that lid is locked into place. Turn dial to on and try again. If this fails to resolve, replace it -has a 3 year warranty.
