I have 42 inch lcd tv, which is not displaying any picture. i had purchased it on 27 sept 2009. it is couple of days above the warranty period. but the samsung people are asking to get the tv panel replaced by paying 30% of the purchase cost, which was 52,000. what should we do? paying 30% of the cost to repair a tv is out of question? so please help us

it was an inverter board and screen back light issue. you must check loose connector like dry joint .

there should be a picture size on your toshiba remote. Click on it and go to natural mode or any other mode. Play around with it to see which you like best. Hope this helps, good luck.

If the backlight of the LCD-panel does not function, (no picture) then Master and/or Slave inverter are defective. Inverter boards are screwed to both sides of the LCD display, if they have revision 1.2 boards then they will need replaced with revision 1.3 boards.

Try shinning a flashlight into the screen to see if the picture is still visible or not. If its still there the back light is the problem.

New products do fail. The set should certainly be under warranty. I would speak to the dealer you purchased the unit from and see what they suggest. Don't remove the rear cover, or do anything else to give anyone a reason to void your warranty. Most brands are 90 days on parts and labor.

if you cannot get any picture at all, even the menu screens, then the set is defective.

My experience with Philips TVs was very similar, mine failed with one day, I exchanged that one, then the next one lasted about two years before failing again. My advice would be to exchange yours for a more reliable brand if you can.
