Hi there i am just about to move and dont have an original remote control or manual for my matsui television its about 7 years old my ex bought it without the correct controller or manual (idiot) and now im worried when i move i wont be able to tune it back in
it states on the back of the set Matsui 25BKG 25NO3

It is really a simple matter to get instructions by searching on the internet by the numbers you have mentioned. Then, download what it is you want to know.

Not every universal remote control is compatible with every brand of TV. If the codes they gave you don't work, see if the remote has a "code search" feature. If it does, try finding a working code that way. Sometimes a TV is made for a company by someone else and rebranded, and the codes for that brand might work. You can't usually find out what brand that is without trial and error, though.
The other trouble with universal controls is that when you do find a working code it's not always 100% the same as the original. Many universal controls don't have buttons to control all the functions of the original. Input switching is a common problem; without the original remote you can't change from cable to the A/V input. (That's a pretty common post here on Fixya.)
You may just need to keep the original TV remote at hand.
