The power receptacle in the laptop (where you plug in the AC adapter cord) might be damaged. In order to diagnose this problem, please follow the diagnosis outlined in this article:
http://www.fixya.com/support/r6395191-troubleshooting_laptop_power_failures_ac

Next, if you made sure that it is not a power receptacle problem, then you will have to disassemble your laptop, removing one component at a time & testing. First start by removing the battery, hard drive, RAM modules, CD/DVD drive, wireless card adapter, .... etc. Continue removing the parts till you only have the motherboard, testing after you remove each component. Once you get the power LED on the power adapter to glow when plugged to the laptop, you then know that the component you just removed is the faulty one that needs to be replaced. If you reach the point where all components have been removed & only the motherboard is remaining, then the mother board is the defective part that needs to be replaced

Do you get any lights? Does it show if the battery is charging at all? Try plugging it in without the battery.

You also may have a bad powercord or loose jack inside the computer where it plugs in. See if you jiggle it where it plugs in if any lights come on to indicate it has power or is charging the battery.

Oh..that one is hard to do specially to novice. I would suggest not to do it. It would be hard for you to dismantle your laptop bit by bit and it is very risky. You might it end up damaging your laptop. Take it to a qualified technician to get it done. okay..:-)

Toshiba tekra 8100 on off knapp var finns den ?

> on off button where finds it?

The ON/OFF could a switch that "slides" about 50 mm,
or it could be a button with an 'I" inside a "circle".

The pictures at:

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Tecra-8100/Tecra-8100-FL-inverter-big/remove-replace-FL-inverter-00.jpg

and:

http://www.pcarena.hu/pricelist/oriaskep/toshiba-tecra-8100-570.jpg

do not show any "button" on/near the keyboard.

The picture:

http://www.recycledgoods.com/images/s_p_12957_5.jpg

does not show any button on the back.

So, look for a "slider" or a "button" on the side(s) of the case.

I have a Toshiba Tecra 8100, and it won't start up. A few months ago, my charger for it broke since it was so old and dilapidated. I recently purchased a brand new replacement charger and hooked it up, but...

Try to replace the battery or take it out all together. but first check to make sure that the chager is the right one. Make sure it is one of these. http://www.battdepot.com/model/Toshiba/Tecra+8100.aspx?gclid=CObk4tjC4pwCFQMNDQodXid0Kw you can use this site to get an idea if you have the right one.
