I have the exact same problem, the noise has always been worrying. I've only used the iron about a dozen times, and now no steam at all... just noise. Still searching the web for a solution or this bad boy is heading right back to its maker.

A shame too, because when it works, it works well.

You just have to keep holding the steam button for around 30 sec to a minute to get it going. It will make some noise but just have to bare it then the steam will follow.

Just worked on my neighbour's kenwood G1030ste, was able to dismantle filter by forcing out bottom so clean entry of fresh water to steam generator....forced pump for a minute as someone suggested, finally got steam going, but boiling steam came out of side of unit!! Verdict: a piece of crud, never want to see one of these again.

How do you test a pump on a tefal steam generater

If the iron heats but steams improperly, inspect the soleplate and clean the vents (see below) and flush sediment out of the steam chamber (see below).
If the iron produces too much or too little heat, test the electrical cord . Also test and, if needed, adjust calibration of the thermostat .
If the iron does not spray properly, inspect and clean the nozzle (see below).
If the iron leaks or spits, clean the steam vents, nozzle, and tank.
If the iron sticks to fabric, clean or repair the soleplate. If the iron stains fabric, clean the soleplate, clean the tank with a commercial cleaner, and use distilled or filtered water.

I have just fitted a new solanoid to our steam generator pro express iron. Previously it would continously steam and the answer given was that the solanoid was sticking in on position. now the red light to...

However clean very well the surface of solenoid, and see if there are something abnormla in the surface and clean it. and test it again. tight very well the connection of solenoid, can be loose and produce NOT strong attraction.

I have a Swan S15040 steam generator iron, the stand by light is permanently flashing, no matter what temperature setting i put the iron on. No steam is generated. I have tried holding the steam button...

I had same issue , now , once you turn the unit on , you should see displayed 3 steam jets and the flashing standby , turn the dial on the iron to max ,press the steam button on the machine to max steam , leave for a minute or so , now press the steam button on the iron , does it make a noise ? if it does , slightly raise the whole front end of the unit ( easier if you have the iron on the worktop and not on the unit !) for a minute then try and press the steam button on the iron again . I think there is a bit of an issue about the conection between the water tank and the filter . This solved my issues and i do hope it will help you .

Tefal express

The rumbling noise is the steam generator working - make sure the water reservoir is full and press the on button. Inside the machine will be doing its stuff and generating steam - this is the noise that you are hearing and when you press the release switch (normally under the handle of the iron) then the steam will be expelled. The noiose comes on and off as it is making more steam - this is normal. I use ordinary tap water but don't have hard water so have no problems - also make sure you empty out the base occassionally - should be a large pressure screw behind the cable holder - make sure iron is off and cold before doing this and then shake it out and residue bits will come out - then flush out with water. These are brilliant to use and you will wonder how you managed before having this - Happy ironing.
