Remove drip tray from bosch KTR1670GB

Can you please advise on how to remove drip tray from bosch fridge KTR1670GB. Tray filled up with gunge and needs cleaning and disinfecting. From what I can see a 'tightener' linked to the compressor keeps it in place. I suspect that this could be un tightened to get the tray out, however, there is hardly any room to do this.

In the following link https://www.justanswer.com/uk-appliance/3p1m5-remove-evaporating-plate-bosch-fridge-ktr-eco.html the technician didn't have an answer. I've just been faced with the same problem on the same model the KTR1670GB. My sons carried the fridge outside for me and I puzzled on what to do. The Danfoss compressor is on a sub chassis. I rotated the fridge clockwise with the back facing me. The ooze and grotty water drained away from the junction box on the compressor. Using a Torx screwdriver I undid the four screws. This allowed the compressor to move 20mm. A son held the compressor while I twisted off the tab that retains the drip tray. Water pump pliers with their cranked jaws worked here. The tab fractured in half a turn. The drip tray was easy to remove. I put 2 screws back in loosely and went away to tackle the year's worst piece of washing up using old toothbrushes, cotton buds and a scriber. This part was never designed to be cleaned. Reassembly was straight forward. Please could you add this to the above article? David Holman,

How to remove despenser tray from awz 410 -1000 spin washing machine .i am unable to do it. water filled in tray

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
I suspect that it is the conditioner/softener tray which needs a thorough clean,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)
-------------------------------------
Remove the complete drawer. To do this you will have to do one of the following-
  • Top catch- push down the lip/catch at the middle rear and pull the drawer out (that's how our Bosch one is removed)
  • release the catches underneath (our daughter's Indesit) or
  • lift upwards on the tray as it is coming out to clear the lip underneath.
Once out identify which tray is for the conditioner- the others are simply 'chutes' and open-ended.
It will normally have some sort of cover over it which you must remove to expose the little stuck up pipe/tube. On some models there is just a small individual cap over the tube. The tube is down which the conditioner and water should siphon. It is likely to be blocked by 'gunge'- a mix of powder and conditioner. The whole of the tray, particularly this pipe and the bit which fits over it, must be completely clean and clear for it to operate correctly. It is worthwhile checking fairly regularly.
If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

How do I remove the plastic drip tray from behind my Wesitnghouse Aurora Fridge Freezer.

we had a really bad smell coming from the back of our westinghouse aurora. and yes found it to be emanating from drip tray at the back. To remove this we had to undo 4 clips at the base of black motor thingy, that the plastic drip box sits on. Then we were able to lift whole thing a bit ,(10mm up and 50mm out, approx) so we could tilt everything forward and sweeze and wiggle tray out. then cleaned with bleach. also we unblocked hole inside fridge that allows water to drip into drip tray at back.

Fabric Softner tray is full of water and won't drain. After every wash the tray is full, and when I empty it before a new wash it just fills up again

WM58 hotpoint. I have cleaned the fabric conditioner drawer but the machine will still not take the fabric conditioner

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Sorry and please don't take this the wrong way but is it possible that there is still a blockage in the siphon tube of the conditioner tray part of the dispenser?

Please follow my (complete, pre-typed) guidance notes,
paying particular attention to the sentences in BOLD ;-0)

If it's not blocked it is possible that the water is not being fed into the conditioner tray. It is possible to check by opening the dispenser a little way when the machine is on (final?) rinse and you should be able to see the water entering the conditioner tray. If it isn't, it's a service call, sorry.

Milk which was spilled in the fridge has dripped into the drip tray behind the fridge and has created the most awful smell. Can the tray be removed for cleaning and if so how?

Yes, usually the tray can be removed for cleaning. You will have to pull the fridge out, unplug power, remove the rear access cover. Then you should see the evaporator / condensate tray and how to remove it.

Cleaning drip tray.

I have just removed the drip tray from my fridge freezer and it was relatively easy.

Do not remove the compressor unit.

The drip tray is held in place by a metal clasp which is welded to the top of the compressor. The clasp is a flat piece of metal which must physically twisted to align with the key way in the plastic drip tray. I used thin pair of pliers to grip the clasp and twist it clockwise to line up with the tray key way. The tray then has to be carefully manouvred off the compressor so as not to cause damage or spill it foul smelling contents. This I managed to achieve fairly easily.

Clean out and install then twist the clasp to clamp the tray into position. I don't know what would happen if you didnt lock the tray back in position as it does not seem capable of falling off on its own and it would be easier to remove next time.

Hope this makes sense
Mark
