Well, if the ice maker were working properly, when you poured water, assuming you poured A, enough water, and B, not too much water, you should have seen some cubes drop into the bucket. But since you did not get any ice cubes, I would have to say the reason your ice maker is not making ice is because you have a bad ice maker. Its not receiving water because it is not cycling.

If you noticed ice in that fill tube to the freezer, you may have a bad water valve. However, because you did not get ice dumped when you poured water, I still believe you have a bad ice maker, and in fact, if your ice bucket mounts on the door, you will likely have to replace the electric eye emitter and receiver, located on either side wall, in addition to the ice maker. This is a very common problem with kitchenaid ice makers.
