Hi, I have a Jenn Air JEC9536 five element cooktop. When I turn on the burner (any burner) the fans squeals horrendously for about 2-3 minutes, then it stops. This happened when I first got it and it last for about a month then it stopped. Now, 4 years later it's started again and it's lasted over a month. Hope you can help! Thank you. Linda

I had just finished a major renovation and had too many other things to "fix". Since it stopped I didn't worry about it.

Yes, i'd like to do this myself if possible.

    thanks.

how likely do you think it is? do i need to order all the parts for #2 or just the control kit?

The noise stops because the fans bearings heat up and what is left of the grease starts acting as it should. The fans needs to be cleaned and oiled - an easy job that you should be able to do it yourself. Just be careful when dismantling the oven to access them.

Wow that's a strange one. When it happened when you first got it - you didn't get it checked out or return the unit? No indication as to what it was back then?

Hard to say what this is. So every time you turn on a burner, a fan squeals? That sounds like electrical mis-routing or something in the control unit that is malfunctioning. I can't imagine why a fan would kick on right when you turn on a burner in the first place. Something is definitely going on with the hardware of the oven. Are you hoping to replace whatever part is bad by yourself? Let me know and I can try to locate what I think the part is.

    Thanks
    Tim

Alright the part that is almost certain the problem is the control kit / unit of the device. You can check out the diagrams and order the part (part # 2 on the list, the one that says CONTROL KIT) from here:

Very very likely and they will take all returns for full refunds, no restocking fees as well, so there is no risk really. And it's just the control kit, not all the parts.

My Jenn AirCooktop Model CVE3401 burner problems

The part you need to replace is the switch. The switch is housed under the top and connects to the dial you are turning.
The switch for the dual burner is 12002125, and 74011242 for the single burner.

The single burner switch runs about $20.00 and the dual runs about $50.00 for the parts

JEC9536 2 right side burners will not work

Sounds like a broken wire, but if the service people already knew what was wrong, you should be bale to type in the Make and Model number into a Google search and find more information about it.

Maybe SearsPartsDirect will have a wiring diagram that you can look at to help diagnose the problem.
