Question about Televison & Video

No picture The video just went out on my daughter's tvwhile she was watching it. the dish will still work so it's not that(you can see the program info when you change a channel)... she canstill watch DVD's ok. time to get a new one??%

I would say it is your dish receiver if info appeaars on the tv screen. swap with another dish receiver.

Hi, poog_23350, I caught your post! How a Duo DVR receiver works is that the TV you have it set to record on will not allow you to change the channel while the recording is in progress. The other TV, that isn't recording anything, can be used freely to flip through channels.

In this case, it's TV2, the one upstairs in your daughter's room, that's currently set to record on while the downstairs TV is free to use. This can be adjusted by pulling up the Main Menu with the Menu button on the remote, selecting option 8, then option 5, and changing the TV1/TV2 setting there on the Record Plus screen.

If you'd like a receiver capable of allowing channel changing while recording a program, our VIP 612 receiver is a Solo receiver that acts like a Duo. What this means is that it has one TV output and two tuners. Along with being able to change channels while a recording is in progress with this type of receiver, you can also record two programs on two different channels simultaneously.

That sounds like a lead is not fully plugged in. Just the green wire is working. Make sure all the leads are fully pushed in.

If your DISH remote is programmed to operate your TV, you can press the TV button at the top of the remote and release it. On the number pad, press the number 3. If you get a picture, press the SAT button on release it. You can now operate your satellite receiver.

If you don't get a picture, use the TV remote to place the TV on channel 3 or you can use the channel button on your TV.

Can't watch anyother shows while recording another

Check the back of the DVR to make sure BOTH cables from the dish are properly connected to the receiver. Make sure they are properly tightened. It sounds like one of them has come loose, because if the receiver only has one working cable coming in from the dish it can only do one thing at once- you can only record one show at a time with one cable. You can also go into the receiver's setup menu and run a system test, which will help you diagnose the issue.

To verify that the tuner is the problem, move the cable from the second to the first. If you don't get a signal, the tuner is bad. The main tuner is part number 859843000 and is available for $47.38 from tritronicsinc.com

I unplugged the Dish connection, waited 15 seconds, and then plugged it up and it worked.

My daughter wants to watch streaming video but it too slow (when first installed worked good -- but after the computer check for up grades the video slows to a crawl.

my solution is save out files redo windows and disable updates and have a good firewall and virus program and spyware program onboard and if it works without updates then you know where problems lie.
