I believe eveything is hookep up to the correct wires and everything in my truck. Everything should check out, but i found that when I try to start the truck with the hood open that all the remote starter does is click, but when I have the hood down the remote starter blows the two 20amp fuses that are on the 2 power supply wires to the remote starter. As of now i dont have the domelight, doorlocks, tach wire, neg. when running not attached because they are not required in order for the remote starter to function. im not sure what the problem is, the unit is brand new

Hi harrisongill, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Do you have hook-up instructions that came with the new unit? Or at least the name & model nr?

It's obvious, you don't have it wired up corectly either via grounding or via power suppply. it's blowing the fuses because you're prboably pulling too much amperage. you'll need a multimeter to see what levels of voltage and amperage and resistance are registering.

SOURCE: blows the 15 amp fuse

if you live in a town that has a remote starter installation shop you can just go there and buy a new pinswitch for around 6 dollars i recomend changing the location of it under the hood
and if your red power wire has only 15 amps of protection you should switch it for a 30 amp fuse thats the minimum that is going to be pulled when the unit cranks the starter wire so the 15 will deffinately melt or blow and check to insure the ground is perfectly connected (in the world of current vs. resistance the weakest point will give in first...

SOURCE: Remote Start will not start

You need a transponder bypas module as the key has a chip in it. Your choicfes are getting a "hide a key" box and putting an extra key in it then wire as stated in the instructions OR, get a hard wire piece that doesn't require a key but needs 2 keys to program.

Was thatn a mouthfull?? Without that it won't start. To verify this, stick a key in the ignition WITHOUT turning it on. Now try remote start and it will stay running. Let me know if you wantpart numbers. I can also e-mail people with te entire vehicles wire coors and location!!

SOURCE: car won't start, makes clicking sound

If you have a bulldog remote start, you should have it removed right away. I work at best buy, and we will not install these any more because of the problems they cause. You should buy something made by DEI, they cost a little more, but are very well made and come with a lifetime warrenty.

SOURCE: installing a remote starter on a mitsubishi raider 2007

Pull out the fastener pins with needle-nose pliers to remove the heat cover underneath the driver's side dashboard.

  • Affix the remote starter to the molding inside the heater duct using the rubber cement.
  • Open the Raider's hood and solder the latch pin from the remote starter kit to the top of the Raider's battery. It is best to solder the pin to the area where the Raider's battery cables connect to the battery, such as in the upper left- or right-hand corners of the battery. If the battery is enclosed in a plastic cover, you will need to remove the cover before soldering the latch pin. The plastic cover will have plastic latch tabs on either side; push these tabs in with your thumbs while pulling up on the cover.
  • Feed the gray wire (the power wire) from the remote starter through the heat duct and into the Raider's engine compartment. You may need to use an unwound wire hanger or a thin wooden pole to push the wire through the duct. Crimp the end of the power wire firmly around the latch pin using your hands. Seal the attachment area with electrical tape.
  • Thread the red wire (the ignition wire) from the remote starter up to the Raider's ignition harness, which is on the back of the steering column. Use the wire strippers to remove some of the rubber covering on the Raider's ignition wire, which is the large gauge wire in the middle of the ignition harness.
  • Solder the red wire to the Raider's ignition wire with the soldering iron. Seal the soldered area with electrical tape.
  • Cover the bottom of the starter antenna with rubber cement and glue the antenna to the driver's side dashboard. Plug the wire from the antenna into the remote starter mounted in the heat duct.

I have a vortec out of my 1995 chevy silverado will it work in a 1998 blazer with a vortec? I believe they are both 4.3L but i could be wrong...and the blazer is 4x4 will that affect the swap

If there both 4.3's the interchange says the will fit but I have found that you need to look everything over well. I have found that some have knock sensors with different sizes (2 wire and 1 wire) and the oil pan and pump sometimes have to be swapped going from 2wd to a 4wd. Sit them side by side and check everything is my best advice.

Pull a plug wire and test for spark. May help identify a cam position sensor which is 100% required to run. They go out often enough for ships to stock them. You can pull all of the plugs and do a compression test to help confirm likely hood of the belt being correct.

Make sure all your wires and connections are correct. Make sure everything is put back on. If everything is, it may be a cam sensor, crank sensor, ? Double check everything.
