Was heating water in a Sharp Carousel Microwave R-1470A and the door popped open and then bounce back shut. After which the microwave does not come on. I believe that the pressure from the water after it turned to steam caused the door to pop open, but why is the microwave no longer working?

This appears to be an Australian model and these are the only spares I can find. They do sell the latches. If the hinges are damaged and causing this, you will feel movement. Looks like it is time for a new one.
i just checked my R-3A36 manual to find out the wattage. it's 800 watts. i make pralines in my microwave. i am always asked for the recipe. so i needed to be able to tell people the wattage of my oven so they can adjust the recipe to their oven.

I too believe that a "protection fuse" was possibly blown. It would need to be found and get replaced. Hopefully it is just a fuse and nothing else because the way it sounds to me, the microwave may be damaged.
I have a GE Profile Spacemaker model JVM3670WF001, purchased I think in 2003. Pop sound, no Heat. Light goes on, carousel goes around, Repair or new microwave
You will want to replace the fuse and door switches. You will not be able to run it without replacing door switches. You do not need a new microwave. Door switches go bad, it has nothing to do with radiation.
