Either number one low on freon or air flow arcoss the evaporator. Is the air filter clean? If the filter is clean then you have a unit with a freon leak and will need to find the problem and fix. Any more questions just get back with me. ken

R22 unit running at 160/58. Took bulb out climbed to 61 on suction then right back to 58. Replaced txv. Charged to 220 head, suction stays at 60. Clean coil, no filter, good airflow. Ideas?????

Sounds like bad valves in the compressor.
A good indicator is how fast the pressure changes when you shut the compressor off. It should take several seconds for the suction pressure to rise. If it's immediate, then expect a bad valve.

I got a 5 ton Carrier with a ADP coil and txv and can't get the pressure to go up on the suction line

is there pressure in the high side? equalize the high/low sides pressure thru the use of gages and start the compressor and take note. The condensor valves should be opened to the evaporator, both high and lowsides

Heat pump with High head pressure

HFC-134a ? Critical pressure is 588.9 a . With a 93 LL temp and 575 head, I would suspect 1. Air in system or 2. Ref. has gone critical.
With a 110 psig suction/85 deg.F and a LL temp of 93 deg.F/125 psig

TRIED TO GET SUPPER HEAT MEASSURMENT AFTER THAWING OUT THE EVAP. OUT SIDE TEMP WAS 95 THE SUCTION LINE TEMP 77 AND THE SUCTION PRESSURE WAS 42 AT THE GAUAGE. BUT THE SUCTION PRESSURE WOULD DROP PRESSURE...

You have to let the system run for a while for the suction pressure to stabilize, if the metering device is a TXV pressure will rise and fall as the valve opens and closes. If this is R22 you need to get the suction pressure up

Did you change the drier and evacuate to at least 500 microns ?
What model number is the condensing unit ?
Does the system have a "Crankcase Pressure Regulator"

1.5 ton straight cool condenser....head pressure good at 250 psig....suction pressure will not go higher than 55 psig....target superheat indicates target suction pressure at 68 psig....o/d coil clean,...

Hello take a evap coil split (return temp vs supply temp) 18*F would be great. If it is lousy the TXV valve is restricting the flow of freon or the filter drier is clogging.Adding freon will overcharge the system and the suction will NOT improve.

I have a goodman CPF42-5f split system tripping Hp switch after running for a little time (test hp tripping @ 430psi )both coils have be cleaned

I assume the fan is running in the outdoor unit. Do you have guages connected to the unit? What is the suction pressure when in trips? There could be a restriction in the refrigerant line. Suction pressure would be low if this is the case. Check the temperature on both sides of any filter/driers. A difference in temperature from one end to the other would indicate it's restricted. The same would go for any component in a refrigerant line. Did someone add refrigerant recently? If the unit has a TXV it could be overcharged. It's also possible for a TXV to go bad. Hope this helps. This problem is hard to solve without seeing the unit.

Two lennox heatpump 71/2 tons

check the true psi with the line psi to see if same if psi is good in cooling 225 hi and 70 low on 80'day then compressor is fine and i would start checking for temp difference on the reversing valve sometimes this will cause high suction or high discharge psi shift it manually with by energising it be cooling or heating then pull wire and see how it shifts if shifts good then txv on out door unit could be bad what is the psi in heating on the discharge line going to the indoor unit? most prv's are set at about 350 psi r22 as for suction line size its only hot gas in hp mode os no problem their shows in cooling mode as low suction psi ..hope this helps some also make sure indoor coil is clean!....thanks & rate me

Extremely high head and suction pressures

disconnect the blower and turn on the ac.see if the coil frosts evenly.when you had the system open, you should have changed the liquid line drier.
