If both lights are flashing it means the battery is defective so it won't charge it. By defective it could mean the battery is just worn out or there may be a short in the battery. If the battery is under warranty you can get it replaced at a Makita Service Center, if not you have to buy a new battery.

I found that there is a thermister in the battery.
Then placed my battery on a radiator for while, then
it charged. Batteries had been in a cold garage.

Instead of throwing away your tools you can connect it with 18v adapter to make it work thats the last option that i will ever choose.

Red light flashing will not charge battery have left over night with no result

Sometimes, this is a result of a battery that is too cold (below freezing-warm it up). Sometimes it can be too hot (discharged under heavy stress-let it cool down). Sometimes there may be insufficient voltage, I have had problems in older houses, get closer to the electrical panel to plug in, or you may have to wait until you get home. Red flashing may mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rZqYmPsZycthe charger or battery is to hot and must cool down before it will charge. The charger will not charge a battery if the lights are flashing. Solid Red light means it is charging and solid green light means it is charged. Plug the charger in first before putting the battery on the charger. If the charger has been dropped or hit the floor the coil inside could have broke loose and damaged the charger requiring it to be replaced. Below is an unconventional way to charge the battery if the charger is no good. BE CAREFUL

Makita DC18RA Makstar Li ion Charger three lights

Alternate Red and Green flashing means bad battery. Buy a new one, or take it to a Makita Service center for replacement if it's under warranty.

Normally the yellow light indicates hot battery, but it could also mean dirty battery contacts so the heat sensor can't be read, or that the fan is clogged with dust and unable to cool the battery. The manual says let the battery cool and try again. If the yellow still flashes, it's contacts or the fan.

Red and green light flashing on 5 of my bl11830 battaries and they will not take a charge

If you put a battery on your charger and both red and green lights flash it is indicating that battery is defective. There may be a short in the battery or they just may be too old and worn out to charge anymore. If the charger is reading the battery as defective it will not charge the battery. The only fix is to buy new batteries.

Red and green light flashes alternatingly with only one of my batterys of my makita 18v li-ion fast charger

unplug charger to let it reset. plug back in and then try again, if it still flashes red/green that would indicate a battery failure. check for warranty replacement.

I have a li-ion Makita BL1830 18V 3.0Ah battery that can't be charged...when on the charger the bottom two lights flash red..it will charge my other battery, so it doesn't seem to be the charger

Sorry Mate your battery is dead...
The makita lithium batterys dont like getting worked hard quickly.
There is a chip in them that recognice each battery to each specific charger. Try another charger. This has not worked for me. Try anyway
