I just purchase a used MSD2754GRW Side-by-Side. I purchased it for the filtered ice and water. I installed a tap on my cold water line and was getting ready to attach it to the fridge when I noticed that there are two places to which the line could be attached. I then noticed that the plastic tubing from the valves was cut with only remnants remaining. Someone cut the plastic lines from one valve to the filter in top of the refrigerated side and back and the line from the valve to the icemaker. The tubing from the valve to the in-door water dispenser is still intact. So my question is: Can anybody with a functioning ice and water setup give me pics of the back of your refrigerator? I need pictures of: -the whole back -which plastic lines connect to where (the two that go to and from the filter and the one to the icemaker) -how the water supply is connected. The pics will help me to attach the replacement tubing I am going to buy and get my fridge functioning as desired. Any assistance will be most appreciated.

    Thanks for the link. I thought that would work and wondered why I had not found it earlier (I had searched that site before posting here). Unfortunately that is for the MFD2560HES. I have no idea how my question got posted under that model number, but my model number is MSD2754GRW.

    I did a search on that site again for my model number, but it does not have a diagram of the cabinet back like the link you gave me. I found a link to the User Guide at the bottom of the diagram list on the left, but it does not show me the back of the fridge either. I also have a pdf of the Service Manual (from a SeaBreeze fixya post I found before posting), but it does not have any information or diagram on the tubing either.

I don't have pictures of an actual fridge, but how about a diagram from a service manual, and lists of the parts that you are going to need?

    I have exhausted each resource that I have, trying to find the pic information that you asked for. I don't think that I will be able to help you. Sorry to disappoint.

hello. I am assumming that your model has the ice and water dispenser. Not all models do. On the rear of these models with the ice and water feature you will find a small [1/4 inch] line that has to be connected to a cold water supply source. If you go to most any hardware store you can get the little kit necessary to make this connection. The kit consists of a length of 1/4 inch tubing, the connector to attach to the tube at the rear of your appliance, a valve and a tapping kit to tap into your closest cold water source. If the fridge is near the kitchen sink, you may choose to connect under the sink. If not, make sure you purchase a kit with enough 1/4 inch tubing to reach your nearest cold water pipe. J.

Do not use a steel or plastic braided supply line. They make the ice taste bad.

Water delivery and ice production
Get a good connection to the cold water line, buy a good filter and run copper to the back of your refrigerator. Don't use a piercing valve. I know how you feel. Oh, put shutoff on side of filter housing that feeds the filter. Sea Breeze

HOW DO I INSTALL A WATER LINE FROM THE SINK TO THE FRIDGE
this is rather easy..Go purchase a I/m water line install kit. Please measure the amount of feet this will need and buy the correct size and install the tap/saddle valve onto cold water line under sink. Then, run your water line out of the back side of sink and around baseboard or behind the cabinets to back of refrigerator. The rest is just connecting to the valve on refrigerator and check for water leaks and your finished...Bruce

Water Supply
The ice maker hookups are typically located at the bottom of the reverse side of the ref.
You'll want to have enough slack in your supply line so you can roll the machine forward to clean, and service the machine while still leaving the water supply attached. So if you leave enough extra tubing on your supply line, you'll be ready for where ever it's located on the unit.

If you don't have water to the ref's location, you can purchase a complete icemaker hookup kit with a saddle self-tapping valve, copper or plastic supply line and the necessary fittings. This is typically tapped in to the cold water supply under the sink or on a cold water supply line under the house. If you run it thru cabinets or flooring, I recommend using the copper supply line.

HOOK UP OF ICE MAKER TO THE WATER LINE
What you have in the back is a 1/4 tube which will feed cold water to the icemaker.

go to any hardware store and ask for an icemaker supply line kit. It will consist of a tapping valve, about ten feet of 1/4 inch tubing and a straight connector.

it will also contain step by step instructions.

You will have to determine what cold water line to tap into that is accessable. Perhaps the kitchen sink cold water supply if it is on the same wall as the refrigerator. Many times the line is run up from the basement.

it will start making ice within 24 hrs you should be able to get water out the door but it wont be cold but it takes 24 hr for the box to get cold and stabilized

You should have instructions from Sears that came with the box. Generally, there is a fitting made of brass on the lower part of the back of the fridge. It is generally labeled. Get a kit to connect to the supply...sold at Sears and other appliance/hardware retailers. Generally, they come with some instructions. Find a cold water line of 1/2 inch diameter and make sure it is pretty clean...no dirt/dust on it. Use the clamp/valve unit. Install it on the tubing until it is tight. Tighten the valve according to directions to puncture the cold water line. Install the tubing on the valve and using a small container, turn on the water just a bit to flush the line. Install it onto the fitting on the fridge. If you're making holes in floors or walls to pass the tube through, cover the tubing end with tape when passing it through the wall to keep out the dirt. Tighten the tubing fittings just enough to stop any water drip. Overtightening will cause leaks.

No Ice
Clogged filter?
On most ice makers, if the water pressure drops too low, the valve will not open to fill the ice maker.


Frozen water line?
On some units, the water line supplying the ice make can freeze up preventing water from getting to the ice maker.

Freezer cold enough?
Are you sure of the temp inside your freezer?
Place a small thermometer that can register temps around the freezing range. (example of a thermometers not to use are: a candy thermometer or a thermometer used to take a person's temp.) If you do not have one or do not want to purchase one, put a bowl of water in your freezer. If the water does not turn to ice in say 6 to 8 hours, your freezer is not cold enough.

Filtered Water tastes "off"
Could be something foreign in the water line on the fridge side...or somewhere in the ice maker/ water dispenser inside the fridge......when it tastes stale....maybe there is something maybe mold or something that is part of the plastic ????
I usually add an in-line filter to my water line before it reaches the fridge so that 99% of the elements are trapped before it gets to the fridge. My original filter is still good. Maybe someone needs to inspect the ice maker with a a bright light and an inspection mirror to see if there is any thing that looks suspicious....this is only a suggestion but leaving the line disconnected for so long could even cause something like a small insect to crawl inside the line...
