Question about Nikon Unisex LR550 Rangefinder

2 Answers

I purchased a new LR 559 Callaway golf rangefinder from a QVC auction. The problem with it is it isnt even close to accurate. I have a measured archery range back to 65 yards and the rangefinder is way off on the distance. At 10 yards it reads 16 at 20 it reads 22 at 30 it reads 31. I never get the same distance 2 times in a row. Do you have any idea what the problem could be. Thanks Roy Keffer

O play well golf game you need accurate information like distance, range, etc. The Nexus Laser Rangefinder provides you with accurate distances to the flag that performed club selection easy and consistent. The laser technology is perfect to 1 yard and shoots ranges to the 1/10 of a yard. The High-level Target Lock Function filters out the object from your background to assuring you shoot to the flag directly. That helps not to distract from what's behind the flag. check this for https://bestgolfrangefinder2020.com/

Its a piece of ****, that happens when you arder through qvc. When you arder electronic devices for weights or measurements, first you must know exactly what you are looking at, make, model, and series,,, then read all of the reviews you can,, then go to a pro store-- (like our shop we are a pro archery shop) we refuse to work on peoples bows they bring in that they bought online, because half the time they recieved something that they did not order, they dont look like they did in the picture that the seller posted... always read reviews and ask the professionals.... I would return the item even if it was an auction, if you cant return it then ebay it-- but be honest when you post descriptions of the item, and the problems that you may be experiencing, trust me the buyers will appreciate it...

What are the advantages and disadvantages of golf rangefinders?

Even though GPS technology has come a long way, many golfers still prefer to use rangefinders to help them to get the most out of the game. Rangefinders come with a lot of benefits but also with some issues. Here are the main pros and cons:

Pros:

-Accuracy
Every rangefinder that's available for purchase, from every brand, is highly accurate. There is a very small margin of error (less than a yard).

-Versatility of use
Rangefinders can be used on any course as they determine distances based on a manual process. This is unlike GPS systems which can only be used on courses which the manufacturer has already mapped out on a database.

Cons:

-Obstructions
You can only use a rangefinder to find the distance between you and a point if you can point the laser at that point. If there are obstructions between you and the flag, you might find it difficult to get a clear line of sight for the laser.

-Speed
The whole process is much slower than with a GPS system as you have to manually point the laser at the flag as opposed to automatically receiving yardages via your GPS.

-Technicality
Some people find rangefinders 'fiddly' and struggle to use it with shaky hands.

It's also worth mentioning that not all rangefinders are made equal. Some are better than others. Fortunately, websites like this one allow buyers to determine which is the best for them before they make any purchases.

What is the difference between Hunting vs Golfing Rangefinders?

If you want to buy a rangefinder then you would have a question at some point. Can you use a rangefinder for both golfing and hunting? Can you save a few bucks buying one rangefinder?
The answer is Yes, you can. You can use a laser rangefinder for both activities if you choose a smart device that has features to serve both golfing and hunting adequately. You just need to know the basic differences between golf and hunting rangefinders and some limitations.
Fast of all you have to know, what is golf rangefinder and hunting rangefinder.
Golf Rangefinder Golf rangefinders seek for the nearest flag stick for the measuring the distance in an open field.
Hunting Rangefinder
The rangefinders always are in "Distant Target Mode" by default to spot wildlife in wooden terrains. This target set automatically ignores close objects that could obstruct your view.

Here I wrote the 3 difference, you should remember that:

1. First Target And Distant Target Modes

Golfers need "First Target Mode" to detect the near objects like flag or pin in an open golf ground. Hunting rangefinders rarely good at detecting close objects. For hunting, "Distant Target Mode" is appropriate to range a target past the wood. Modern rangefinders come with toggling options between both first target and distant target modes, but they are expensive.
2.Quick And Accurate Reading
Golfing rangefinders detect the object quickly, and hunting rangefinders give the accurate reading. It is true that golf rangefinders do not need to be as precise as hunting one. Hunters want to make sure that their prey can be perfectly located.
3. Magnification Strength
You might be aware of the fact that Hunting rangefinders always have more magnification than the Golf Rangefinders. Golfers need the distance of the next hole, which could be maximum 400 yards. For the bow hunters and hunting, 400 yards rangefinders are also appropriate. In case of rifle hunting or long-distance shooting sports, you will be needed maximum 1000 to 1500 yards ranges.

Now you know what the basic differences between the golf and hunting rangefinders are. You can start choosing your suitable one.

How do choose a better golf rangefinder?

If you want to buy a golf rangefinder then here's the article about the Golf Rangefinder.
There really isn't one that's "best", all are a combination of features and price.
However, and this is VERY important, you need to decide before you buy whether or not you're going to play in any organized tournaments. If you intend to play in organized tournaments, and the tournament allows rangefinders, do NOT buy a rangefinder that will measure slope in addition to distance. That rangefinder is not legal for tournament play, and if you use it, even if you don't use the slope feature, you will be disqualified.

Which is the best rangefinder for 500-600 yards?

The Ultimate Halo XRT62 7 Rangefinder

The Halo Rangefinder can reach as far as 600 yards if you are going for an insightful target. This rangefinder can reach 600 yards under proper conditions. Usually, deer is measured up to 200-250 yards. Too many distances make it generally harder to get correct measurements.
The Halo XRT62-7 gathers light well during a bright day you are completely set. It does not work better in low-light situations, however, as the display is not provided with artificial light. Practically, the rangefinder has been designed with the needs of shooters and golfers in mind, and in this Halo XRT62-7 Rangefinder review, you will know how this product has been helping your fellow golfers and hunters.
The scan mode and 6x magnification which allows for constant ranging. While you are involved on the golf course or in the woods hunting, Halo XRT62 has the rangefinder for you. The XRT62 equipped with a CR2 battery also with a useful protective case, class IIIA laser; 5mW or less.
This rangefinder also works nicely for golfing although you might have to try a few times to get a proper measurement. In such a case, the green object might be captured well by this rangefinder for measuring the distance.
