I have a Maytag Quiet Series 200. In the beginning of the cycle, it makes a weird 'whirrrring' noise that goes away right after the first wash cycle. It's getting water. It's very noticable and I worry that it's causing damage to the washer. Any help?

I have a quiet series 300 and it does that, too. I think it just balances the load before washing and is normal. I found this in the manual:

The label should be at the back where the power goes in. The label is supposed to be not able to be removed (strong adhesive or metal and riveted. There may also be a service manual and wiring diagram in the top console.
Pictures and mentions here, but no model details. You could also try emailing Maytag.
Roaring noise must also come during the spin cycle I suppose...it seems your bearing and or drive belt/gear is causing you this noise. To fix this, you would need to completely disassemble the washer and inspect the bearing and or drive box that activates the turning motion. It is a large job.

Weird, try making sure it is level, and make sure your vent pipe aint too long. Tip the cabinet back while running if the noise goes away the damn metal vent pipe is too dang long.
