I had that problem with my Kenmore front loader washer, and found out it was because I was using liquid detergent. I switched to the HE power detergent, and the smelly towel problem went away.

Every since I had my washer it has periodically left orange coloured stains on my laundry. I recently washed brand new towels that left huge stains all over the towels and ruined them. What is causing...

I'm guessing it's a mildew smell, if it is try setting the machine with nothing in it and use some Affresh once a month, you never know it might solve the other problem too.

All my clothes smell horrible especially after a towel gets used and becomes damp.. The smell is so bad like horrible BO.

you need to use some type of dis infectant in a wash cycle. sometime that will kill mold and bacteria. and start leaving your door open. i seen appliance direct talk about that on there web site. i believe they sell some special treatment for that issue

I have exactly the same problem!

Try using the tub clean cycle and use a good dose of bleach or vinegear. Here is how to run the tub clean cycle.

To start the TUB CLEAN cycle:
1. Remove any clothing or items from the washer and close the door.
2. Open the dispenser drawer and add liquid chlorine bleach to the bleach compartment.
NOTE: Do not add any detergent to the detergent compartments. Excessive suds may be produced and leak
from the washer.
3. Close the dispenser drawer slowly.
4. Power On and then press the Extra Rinse button for 3 seconds. (Prewash option will be selected.)
5. Press the Start/Pause button to start.
6. After the cycle is complete, leave the door open to dry around the washer door opening, door seal and
door glass.

Kenmore washer humms and smells horrible....

You have a bad motor. ( very common) If you take your model number to a local used parts store you may be able to find a good used motor for cheap. If no luck finding a used one, Order it from sears. (the motor is deffinately your problem, I replace them all the time.)

Laundry

Same problem with my front loader. You have to make sure to clean out the rubber trap in the front regularly. it seems to collect alot of hair and plug the drain hole. also it helps to leave the door open when you finish washing to further reduce the stagnant water smell. Use fabric softener for the towels!

hope that helps.

Mold & Smelly in Washer

Thanks for your suggestion about looking in the lip of the seal. I found one of my three year old granddaughters socks. Also, the seal for very dirty so I mixed a 50% solution and 50% solution of chlorox and used an old towel rag to wipe and wash throughly around the lip seal.

I noted that the aluminum ring inside the washer had also accumulated a lot of dirt. With one hand and fingers I held the wet cholorx towel inside the ring and with the other hand spun the tub around several turns until I had removed all the dirt and grime.

It did have a moldy smell. I'll let you know if this fixed the problem.

Kenmore washer smells/mildew on rubber

The smell problem is actually because of the softener....its nassssty stuff it coats the interior of the washer and forms a grease like residue. I would use Washer Magic (available at all appliance parts retailers) (only half the container in front loaders) and a hot wash. Also keep spraying the boot with bleach and water soluiton every few hours it will dissappear after awhile. please rate my help
