I need to reset Simrad AI50 ais to a new MMSI.. Thank you

This is the official line

Can I change the MMSI number entered into a VHF radio or AIS unit?
Once entered and confirmed, the MMSI number can only be changed by a certified technical dealer. If you need your number reset or changed, it is recommended that you contact the organization or agency which originally registered your MMSI. For more information about MMSI numbers, go to the
United States Coast Guard website at this link.

I can't transmit on my rs82 radio although the station can receive

Simrad RS82. Ok, can you switch to 1 watt and see if it transmits on low power? If it does, check all wiring and your power source (battery or power supply) for enough voltage. Marine radios often get corrosion on connections. Later, check your external antenna and connectors. Of course, you can never transmit on the pre programmed weather channels.

My Ap16 Simrad control head died. Any idea of as to 1) where I might get it repaired and/or 2) where I might find a replacement?

Hi John

Boy, you're up against it on this one. The AP16 is a pretty old unit for sure. Here's the link to your owners manual.

I've come across one instance in my experience where although there was enough power showing to the control head, because of corrosion and broken wire strands, there simply was too much voltage drop and not enough current flow for the unit to function when it was turned on. After cutting back/fixing the soldered connections and reconnecting the cable, the unit was good to go.

I hope this information is able to help you out.
Good luck.

Change MMSI number ? simrad rd 68

Hi!

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but according to the Owners Manual for this unit:
http://www.busse-yachtshop.de/pdf/simrad-rd68.pdf (Page 6),
to erase a previously entered MMSI, the radio must be sent to a Simrad authorized dealer. I suppose this feature was put into effect to cut down on stolen Simrad products.

Hope this is helpful, sorry I couldn't do more for you.
