I'm trying to fix a Kenmore 20172 Commercial Washer with an intermittent problem, although recently it seems to happen all the time. It does nothing when you put the coins in. I checked it out and found that I can start it by nudging the clutch lever over, then it runs fine. I suspected the problem to be with the timer/motor so I tried replacing them, but it does the same thing. I don't know if it needs to be adjusted or if there is some other problem altogether. Please help.
Sounds like the lever for the coin box needs an adjusment. It may not be far enough back to engage the lever to start it.

Hi, thanks for responding. I thought that could be the case, but when I work it manually I push it way back and still it does nothing. Any other ideas? I'm wondering if there could be a problem with the switch on the lid, as I've read in some posts, but again, when I work it manually I can get it to work just by pushing the lever to the left, the direction the spring on the clutch pulls it. This is a new clutch and timer/motor, and I'm wondering if it needs to be set up differently, something I'm missing???
