GE Dishwasher middle arm not turning

Hi, you responded to someone's inquiry about their middle arm not turning. Mine is doing the same things and I don't think it is from build up in the arm. The arm turns freely and water is coming out easily, but it isn't turning. Can you elaborate on the water pressure possibility and how to confirm/fix that? Thanks!

My DW is a 24 in built in but the model number is GLD5500L15BB

Same here! We've taken the arm and tube-thingie off altogether to see if there is water coming out of the wall... and sure enough there is - powerfully, at that! Nothing is clogged anywhere, but no water pressure and the arm doesn't turn so the top rack is not clean... Actually, we're having a similar problem with the bottom arm as well... lots of pressure when the arm is removed, but it doesn't turn when the arm is attached... it spins freely.. not clogged... could it be the water pump??? weird... and frustrating...

SOURCE: GE Nautilus Dishwasher - NO water coming in at beginning

all fill cycles on a dishwasher is timed. so at the end of the fill cycle the dishwasher may run. the first thing I would check is to make sure the water inlet valve is good. for this you will need a volt/ohm meter. you will want to make sure that there is 120v going to the valve. if there is you then would want to remove the wire connector on the valve and ohm it out. if you get a reading anywhere from maybe 450-650 the valve should be good and you will want to check for a blockage. good luck

SOURCE: GE Triton arms don't spin

Peace,
Cut off the power at the breaker for 5 minutes and then turn it on and see if the system resets!
How old is the machine?

Other wise you need hands on service! And a new machine will pay for itself in only a few years!

SOURCE: GE triton dishwasher middle spin arm not spinning

I had the same problem and found two things which were causing it
-The O-ring was missing off of the tube connection on the back of the dryer that inserts into the sprayer tube. I found a size 11 O-Ring at Home Depot and it worked
-The openings on the underside of the spray arm are what propels the sprayer to spin. I found small pieces of plastic debris in the openings and cleaned them out.

Now the middle arm spins like it should.

SOURCE: middle arm of dishwasher not spinning

I'm the one that reported the same problem in November as "Guest". I fixed mine finally. I removed the middle arm again and noticed that the holes that spray a jet ot water causing the arm to turn aren't the ones on top. On the bottom of the arm there's a small hole at each end. I looked and one of the holes had a small piece of crud in it. I had to use the tip of an ice pick to dislodge it back into the arm. I then ran water into the arm several times hoping to get the item completely removed. I never did see anything come out but I then ran water through the arm holding it so the water could run out one end. The piece didn't show up in the hole again so I tried washing it to the other end. It still didn't show up so I guess it must have washed out the first time. It's been 3 or 4 weeks now and the arm is still functioning perfectly. Hard to believe that one little piece of trash can cause so much irritation. Good luck on this being the problem for others.

Arm stuck in middle of turntable won't move forward or return to rest

if the arm is automated and someone forced it to move, it could be that a gear is jammed. Open the unit to access the mechanical mechanisms and look for any stuck gears or pieces, turn on the unit and see that the motor is attempting to respond.

GE GSD6610GWW Max. Middle arm not turning, glasses are left dirty?

Check to ensure that the arm moves freely. Also, check the mechanism that turns the arm... usually water propelled. The tube carrying the stream of water to the drive arm can be clogged with debris. Clear and try it again.

The middle arm on my dishwasher (ge Profile) is not turning...the top and bottom are working fine

Had same problem with mine. Actually bought all new middle arm assembly but as I was taking it apart to install new pieces, I noticed so much gunk in the middle swinging mechanism that I assumed that must have been the problem.. I really think the newer dishwashing tablets cause this buildup problem. Anyway, put on all new pieces and started the machine. Long story short, it worked great for about a month and then started doing the exact same thing. THE reason why the middle arm sprayer doesn't spin is that the little holes at each end (the ones that sit underneath and look like they should propel the sprayer arm ) get clogged. I bought some pipe cleaners, bent to an angle where I could come in from the top and pull out through the propellor hole and voila` the sprayer is swinging beautifully again.. I guess the only question I still have is why this started happening three to four years after I purchased the machine. Something somewheres else must not be doing its job.
