We just bought a 60 inch plasma TV. We have a home theater which works fine when we run DVD's, but we would like to connect to the optical digital audio out port so we can hear the TV sound though our home theater. The problem is we have an older home theater system which doesn't have a digital audio connection. Is there a converter or another option to make this connection? (reference page 9 owners manual plasma TV) Thanks!

I have a converter to convert optical to digital for a Bose system.
Instructions indicate the TV must be in the PCM mode.

If your surround system has either white/red phono connectors or scart marked as "aux in" or "tv in" or similar, and the TV has a headphone out socket, then you could use these. The cable required will be available on e-bay or a good electronic stockist.

Getting tv sound from home theater speakers

Connect your sound from the cable box out to the JVC theater audio in jacks. This will give you sound through the speakers.

I have a panasonic viera flat panel plasma tv and a samsung 5.1 ch blue ray home theater system and the speakers work fine on the home theater system while playing a dvd, but does not work when watching...

1. The easiest solution would be to connect a stereo RCA (red and white) cable to the audio output on the back of your TV.
2. Then connect the other end to the input on your home theater system.
3. Change the home theater system to the correct input.

Good luck!

Trying to connect to LG 60 inch plasma. no output

Hi.

You need to connect the Bose using the Optical Audio output from TV to Bose main unit (kind of square shaped connector), and not using the RCA inputs on TV.

The picture below is an LG back panel, the optical audio connector is at the lower side of I/O connections at the back of TV, on some model the location of connector may be different.

Gurus, I just bought Samsung Home Theater System which i connected to my Hitachi TV with HDMI cable. I have a Optical Cable going from HT to my TV Optical port. I have another connection from my cable

On the remote control for the Samsung Home Theater System look at the bottom left to a button that says "MODE", those moods change the sound each speaker gives off. if that doesn't work, you might need new wiring because there are other wires that are more durable than the ones that come with it, much better too.

I just bought a dvd home theater system sc-pt760 and i have a 42 inch LG flat screen and the sound wount work on AUX for the TV

Are you using the HDMI connection on both units, the SC-PT760 does have a HDMI input Yes/NO ? If not then it has HDMI output to the LG for HD Picture. What I would do if no HDMI INPUT to the SC-PT760 is available, run out of the TV with the Digital connection into the SC-PT760 Digital Audio in, assign the input as tv and you shoild get TV audio out of your home theatre, you could also use the analog connection audio out of the tv to the home theatre but this would not yield a dolby digital sound.

I cant get my samsung home cinema system to play through my t.v

I bought the optical audio cable ($15 WalMart) and use the Digital In on the DVD player to play the sound through the surround system and turned the TV speakers off. Works great! The optial audio has square ends and looks transparent with just one round shaped cable that goes from the TV to the back of the DVD player.

Digital optical connection is creating any sound

Check to ensure the Home Theater is outputting the digital audio via the optical cable.
