Your door switch may be bad. Is the light on when you open the door when you manually push in on the switch does the light go off? On most fzr the door ajar alarm is set off by the door switch showing the door is open.Turn off the power by unplugging the fzr then you can pop the switch out with a flat blade screw driver if it is only a two wire you can use a paper clip to connect the two wires wrap them with elect tape Then plug the freezer back in and see if the problem clears if it does order a door switch. Some units use a vacume sensor but i believe all kenmores use the door switch. good luck

Upright freezer door was left ajar. The alarm keeps sounding, can you tell me where the reset button is located.

Hello Deena;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

There is no reset for the alarm. The alarm goes off when you are not maintaining temperature.

During the time the door was ajar, warm air got into the freezer either icing up and locking the cooling fan or forming a block of ice on the cooling coils (Restricting cooling air flow.)

The best thing you can do, unless you want a $300.00 plus service call to defrost everything, is to turn power off to the freezer. Open the freezer door. Have plenty of old towels to soak up the water in the bottom of the freezer as it defrost.

You did not provide a model number which is located on the inside wall of the freezer. Every 8-10 hours your freezer will completely shout down for 20-30 minutes where only the light works and the defrost heater turns on. The ice build up is too much for the defrost heater to handle.

In some freezers the defrost mode is in the control board, in others it is a separate component that you can repeat trip using a flat head screw drive.

Why is door ajar alarm on when door is closed

Hello friend, thank you for your post!

I see that your door ajar alarm is going off when the door is closed to your Frigidaire freezer. It sounds like a possible issue with the control panel or switch. Let's perform a reset to your appliance to see if that will correct the issue. You can do that by disconnecting power from the appliance for roughly ten minutes. I hope this helps. -Matt

How can i stop the door ajar alarm when door closed and off?

Hey friend, thank you for your post!

In order to stop the door ajar alarm from beeping when the door is closed you would need to reset the alarm. If you have done that and it continues to beep it could be an issue within the switch or panel of your Frigidaire freezer. I would recommend having a professional come out to properly diagnose your appliance. -Matt

Door was not sealed tightly for about a day resulting in some frost inside freezer. Door appears to be closed but door ajar light is still lite and alarm is still beeping. What do I need to check?

The door seal has a magnetic property to it. Until the freezer gets to a certain degree the magnetic porperties of the door seal dont react properly. Make sure the door seal is properly adjusted. If the door was left open it could have semi warped the door. This gets corrected when temp drops to correct temp. Reset freezer by unplugging and waiting for a few minutes. If problem persist contact appliance technician.

If you have any more questions you can comment me back.

Door ajar alarm keeps signaling with door shut and locked. What would cause this?

The door sensor causes that.
See to it the door really closely tight.
A dirty or defective sensor will fool the micro-controller to send an alarming.
Have it check and clean by a service technician.
Good luck.

Alarm on door keeps peeping red light on and says door ajar

The door switch which senses when the door is ajar needs to be replaced or cleaned. See if you can make the alarm go off by pushing the switch in as far as it will go or take the switch out and by pass it by taping the wires together. There's a sensor switch for each door so try each one separately.

Freezer will Not Go Below 8 degrees and Alarm keeps sounding

Our manual says it can take our freezer up to 48 hours to get back to the correct temperature. I found that to be the case when we loaded it fully for the first time.
