Some magnetrons do emit a coarse buzzing sound, which is perfectly normal for them. If this is a new sound, though, it might be caused by something that has failed, or is failing, in the high voltage circuit. If the oven is not heating, the most likely culprit is the high voltage rectifier. A shorted magnetron or shorted capacitor will cause the transformer to hum much more loudly.
When you say it just hums, do you mean that it sounds like it is running but isn't heating? Or do you mean that the sound is different from when it normally runs? Is it quieter or noisier than normal? Do you hear the fan running or is that sound missing?
IF it sounds normal (or about the same as when it worked), but it's nust not heating, then it is probably a bad magnetron tube.
The sounds you are hearing is the defrosted water, from auto defrosting, running onto the hot compressor. This evaporates the defrosted water. This is quite normal.
No! this not normal and should be checked out right away, the problem could be in the high voltage transformer being loaded down by the magnetron, or possibly the turn table motor. The warranty must still be in place and I encourage you to take at vantage of it.
Q - The microwave display counts down and the inside light is on, but nothing is heating and the fan is not running. A - This most commonly is abad door switch, other possible problems are a faulty relay or solder joint on the power module, but a bad door switch is most common. Q - My microwave is running and sounds like it is working but will not heat up anything. A - Many thing can do this but, common things are....loose high voltage wire.....poor solder joint on board.....magnetron.....power relay..... Q - The microwave makes a loud "hum or buzz" noise but will not heat up the food? A - 9 times out of 10 this is usually this is a bad magnetron, the other time is sometimes a bad high voltage diode. The magnatron in your oven has gone out and will need replaced!( This is the device that heats up your food) If everything is working and your food is not getting hot 99.9 percent of the time its the Magnatron or its fuse! The loud humming is also a big clue the MAGNATRON has gone bad!

Sounds like you just fried your magnetron. Normally when they go bad, they make a very loud noise like what you described. The smell concerns me because you may have ruined the waveguide as well. If the magnetron burns through the protective painted surface of the waveguide, the waveguide is ruined. In most microwave ovens this means replacing the entire unit because the waveguide is not replaceable. Putting a new magnetron in a damaged waveguide will result in the same arcing and eventual failure. In addition to the magnetron, the following components are part of the same high voltage network:
HV Transformer
HV Diode
HV Capacitor
Magnetron Thermal Cut-Out
Any one of these components could have also been damaged. I DO NOT recommend taking any voltage measurements inside the HV network. Potentials of over 4000 volts can be reached and make it very dangerous for the do-it-yourselfer. Taking resistance readings with the unit unplugged is strongly encouraged. If you decide to pursue a repair, inspect the magnetron tip and inside of the waveguide first. If the magnetron is melted and/or there are burn marks inside the waveguide, a new microwave may be a in order. This actually may be a better option than an expensive repair.
