OK dynamicmachi, it's really simple when you know how. Forget all the guff about reloading printer drivers and cartridges. It's baloney! All you have to do is configure your ports. How?
1 Windows Start menu
2 Select Devices and Printers
3 Select your printer (double click)
4 Select printer actions (double click)
5 In the printers dialogue box select Printer - Properties
6 Click on the ports tab
7 Select your printer where it is listed and click "configure port"
8 Fill in the port name and printer name either with your printer's sharename, or the IP address (you can find the IP address from your router interface)
9 Very important. The share name will always find your printer whichever IP address is assigned to it by your router. Assuming you are are using DCHP this will change everytime you turn your printer or router off and an. If you use an IP address you should reserve that IP address for your printer in the router interface. Depending how au fait you are with this kind of thing it is either easy or gobbledegook, so if the latter leave another post and I'll get back to you with more info. But let me know what sort of router you have
Reinstall the drivers or download it from hp site , or change the cartridge then see if it works
That usually means that the printer head is dry and could possibly be burned out. Could try bringing it in for repair but I would just get another one and don't run it low on ink because the ink actually cools down the printer head, and when you run out it can overheat.
