The fan continues to run unless it is unplugged. When it is plugged in, the fan runs, but no lights (the ones that tell the settings, etc.) are on, and it doesn't appear to be dehumidifying. When unplugged, and then plugged back in, the lights may come on for a moment, but then they go off.

So I just had this happen with my Frigidaire fad704dwd dehumidifier. I went to basement and heard it running and sounded off. The compressor was running fan was off which is bad and humidity said 30. I then pushed the off button and it stayed running. I was able to fix it. To make long story short it was a bad ground. I took the plastic back, sides, and front off. There was a green ground (main ground) and Green/yellow ground (fan ground) on the front coil with a bunch of rust. Removed the grounds connected them both together and cleaned the surface area and used a new stainless screw nut and screw to remount the wires to evaporator coil. Everything started working fine after that and I put it back together. Good Luck
I understand that the blower wheel is not spinning on your Frigidaire dehumidifier, model# FAD504DUD. I also see that the compressor will stay on unless the dehumidifier is unplugged. I suggest you contact the manufacturer for further assistance. They can possibly clarify why the compressor stays on and why the blower fan is not working. If not, they should at least be able to point you in the right direction of having your dehumidifier working. Hope this is helpful.
Hi,
There are many reasons why a dehumidifier willnot work or collect water.
Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrongwith their dehumidifier
Hi, There are many reasons for a dehumidifier tto not work or collect water. Here is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going wrong with their dehumidifier.
I went back and rechecked. If the fan mode is selected, you can only set the fan at one of the three speeds. If you leave it in the fan mode, the dehumidifier will not come on.
Once the fan speed is selected, it will run at that speed in the dehumidifier mode. The fan will keep running, even when the dehumidifier (compressor) shuts down.
The only way to get it to turn off is to use the clock setting, which either selects how long it stands-by before starting , or how long it will run before going back to stand-by. DeLonghi calls it "stand-by," we would call it "off." DeLonghi calls unplugged "off."
I've never turned mine to stand-by, because it will never get my entire house down to 30% humidity (I have it where my air handler returns air to the basement). I live in the greater DC Metro area, where 75% humidity is considered extremely dry.
Apparently the normal mode of operation is fan on unless awaiting a clock start, or encountering a clock shut-down; either condition puts it into the "stand-by" mode.
If you have the fan icon selected, it is supposed to run continuously. If you use the mode button (not the fan button) to change to relative humidity (the water drop icon), the fan should only run with the dehumidifier.
I have AD75USTO. Whirlpool was running yesterday. Today it sound like its starting but will not boot up fan will not kick on. Does it need resetting or what. Only a year old only used for one summer?
I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad. Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.
