I have a leak in one of the metal tubes which carry the oil from the pump to the oil cooler (radiator) in the front. I have located the leak and am going to order the part. However, I can't seem to get the tube out of the tractor without cutting it. It travels down from the pump, along the frame rail, and then up to the cooler.
The only possibility I see is removal of the coolant radiator, fan ...etc. to get it out. I know if I can't get it out whole, I can't get it in. Does anyone with experience in JD compact tractors, have any advice? Would it be possible that JD would design the unit where it would require so much to b done for such a simple fix?
Thanks,
Whack
I realize this thread is 5 years old, but maybe it will help someone in the future. I had this problem on my 955, and unfortunately didn't realize it was leaking and I ended up breaking down in the woods on a relatively steep incline. This is where I ended up having to fix it. After two days of wresting with it I was able to replace both hard lines which run through the frame front to back. It's a huge PITA, but it can be done and lots of parts will need to be removed to access everything. I don't recall having to take out the radiator, but it's been quite a while since I did the work. I am no mechanic, so a particular skill set is not required, just time and patience.
